I went to this branch today to deposit and then withdraw some money for personal expenses, the bank clerk asked me strange questions like is it for rent? If not, what do you want it for? Where are you going? For how long? As if I was in a travel agency. There were so many people in the branch and these prying questions seemed like a sort of interrogation to me. It was a very bad feeling and I felt as if I’m some sort of suspect. I asked her why you ask personal questions and she replied “the amount you want looked like rent.” But when I asked why you proceeded with your questions, after some pause she replied the bank asks regulated questions randomly. I don’t know what sort of self-acclaimed protocol it is but it’s very rude and unprofessional.

Visited this branch for the first time since they moved and I was seriously impressed. I had two issues that were dealt with in literally less than 2 minutes. Ignore the negative reviews on here. People are much more likely to complain than give praise. Plus, most of them that are 1 star, are over petty little issues.

Absolutely terrible services, never fully explained what was needed, things miss to merge accounts, manager can't even pick up a phone or send an email while person is on vacation, asked for the manager to call me via email to be ignored! Not to mention agent ARGUING via email and condescending in person when I told her to remove all limits from my account, explaining I have fraud protection and its my money so I will spend as much as I want! To be told that's not how banking works!!. Do not waste your time at this branch, well same goes for 99% of Scotiabank branches. Guess it's time to move my money elsewhere. Anyone else notice they don't respond to reviewers oh that's right because they don't care because they have our money.

Extremely RACIST, my partner and I who are visibly were treated with discrimination. We phoned Scotiabank and were treated as humans. 8th street Scotiabank by saveonfoods will be losing us as customers.

This is the single WORST phone system I've ever had the displeasure of trying to navigate, even the disgrace that is RBC has a 'talk to a person AT THE ACTUAL BRANCH' option. If I wanted to get kicked off the Customer Support line AGAIN I would have called them directly. How does a bank not have a way to contact the branch? I've never done my personal banking with Scotia and I certainly won't ever now. I'm literally so frustrated I could cry, I just want someone to answer my one question, for the love of God.

I'm a newcomer and an international student too. I went to this bank as my first option after my quarantine, because I needed to set my bank account to get my scholarship. Since I didn't have any residential document (It was my first day out of quarantine, therefore, I didn't have a lease agreement yet), they didn't want to open my bank account. I tried to explain my situation, that I needed the bank account asap to get my scholarship, but they didn't care. Then, I just crossed the street I went to TD bank, such much better service! Just 20 minutes to open my bank accout. I don't recommend Scotiabank for Newcomers at all!

The woman that was handling my requests was great - it was her supervisor and/or manager that was the problem.I could tell the lady helping me was so nervous to make any small mistake and the manager would hover over her shoulder and harp at her, yet without being helpful. Condescending tone, speaking down to her, demanding her rather than coaching her through it.She clearly was in training or had poor training and her manager was awful to her, and boarder-line racist. The way she was treating her plus in front of customers was shocking. The manager just paced around then would yell to butt in and tell her she’s wrong.One of my requests we couldn’t figure out but I was in a rush for an appointment and didn’t mind it was low priority, and the poor girl that was helping me looked so defeated she couldn’t figure it out and clearly asking her manager wouldn’t be helpful.Girl, APPLY EVERYWHERE and get out of that abusive workplace. And I’m sorry for not saying something at the time on your behalf. No one deserves that treatment.

Worst bank ever. For passport renewal, we asked them money order. They issued the draft. We sent whole documents needed for our passport to USA (Canada doesn't have embassy of our country). The embassy couldn't proceed the money order due to the technical problem with the Scotia bank. We obtained a ticket for the delay of money order, and a delay in receiving our documents as I am an international student in Canada!! I asked the manager what was the problem, he told me you are under the sanction of USA! My Question is, why you issued when you knew I cannot proceed the money order.

Had problems setting up my accounts online and ended up having to go in. Didn't have an appointment or anything, Elsie Chen came up to me, asked if I needed help, and she found out what was wrong with my account. I highly praise her and and so glad that she helped me fix it!

I have had a business account here for years. I recently found out some ( not all) of my GST slips were not being submitted whenI made my payment at this bank. I had to redo periods over several years and resend them in. This was not fun at all. Now I am told I will be getting charged late filing charges even though the payments were made on time. Very disapointing. Bank is very close to my house though.
