Knockan Hill Park

Looks spooky beautiful with all these tree tranks burnt and sticking out of the ground upside down ))

This park is a hidden gem beside the busy Helmcken road. Surrounded by housing and rough stone this hilly park is bigger than it seems and has some great views, especially during sunsets. Many paths go through the moderately dense forest and over the very rocky and moss covered precipice, providing a bit of a hike to the top.It is usually unoccupied except a few locals that use it for shortcuts or to walk their dogs.

No one go here this place is awesome but don't go there whatever you do I like it just the way it is nobody knows about it there's no parking anyway so forget about it don't even don't even try to find it cuz it's hard to find Lorraine's place is two doors down and it's a little Panama she's really cool I used to live there in the house beside it and it got torn down and they built that concrete thing and yeah it kind of ruined that whole side of the park in a way but like I said forget about it and don't try to find the carved in stone jacuzzi tub that must be a couple of years couple thousand years old it fits four comfortably just like an ordinary everyday run of the mill hot tub where you sit down and you put your arm up shoulder height you know on the edge fill it with water and on a very very very hot day for Sunday morning and it's pretty incredible experience but don't do it just stay away from the place there's no magic mushrooms there at all and at The Summit at night terrible place to look at the stars and meteor showers terrible awful....but if you can see right through my comment and you end up doing please don't throw garbage there's no garbage on the trail keep it that way leave nothing but footprints all right take nothing but pictures thank you

This park is actually not open 24 hrs. It is an old growth sensitive ecosystem area, and the animals in it require privacy for rest after dark. Also, we live at the base of Knockan Hill Park on West Burnside Rd. There is no parking available at our residence for park access, but due to misinfo on line, people are attemping to park in our driveway and just outside our home in our parking spots. Our driveway at 1248 Burnside Rd is a shared walking path only. The Saanich Parks walking trail sign is unfortunately too small to notice for some visitors, but we do have a security pole at the bottom of our driveway indicating no parking is available at our home. Please park on High Street, where there is also an alternate trail into the park at the top of the street. Angular street parking is available outside Strawberry Vale Hall on High Street. Please feel welcome to walk up our driveway to the park if you wish, but please, no cars. Thanks.

A network of trails behind Helmcken and Burnside winds its way up to the rocky hilltops of Knockan Hill. This lovely area is just behind the historic View Royal area - you can even access the park from the High Street!During the Festive Season look out for a few additions on the trail! This is an especially helpful distraction with little ones on the hike.
