Departure Bay Motel

Was charged an extra night because I turned the key back into them at 1145am. If I had known they were going to charge me for another night I would have stayed to get my full value. Room was barely attended to as well. Will not stay there again. Way better places to stay in nanaimo.

This motel is a bit outdated, but clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room is at the back, wich is more quit than the front.The ferry to Departure Bay is a few minutes away, wich is very nice. You can park your car in front of your room.I would stay here again next time!

Immaculately clean. Our hosts were lovely. Very friendly. My husband couldn't figure out the TV, and called to the desk. The very nice gentleman came right in to our room and got the TV working just fine. It had started snowing in the late afternoon and when we got there, the parking lot and stairs were already salted. I have slight mobility issues so I thought that was great! The bed was comfortable, the service was very friendly and again, it was immaculately clean. The 49om was small but the PERFECT size for the two of us. We go to Nanaimo every Christmas Eve, just for the night to see family, and I have already booked our stay for 2022. I can't say enough nice things about Departure Bay Motel.

Front office staff is super friendly and helpful. Room is basic and exactly what you need. Water flow for the shower is inconsistent but the beds are clean and really comfortable.

Lovely place super friendly staff quiet all that you need great value for money

Considering it’s a small motel, the rooms are clean and great for a temporary stay, at least from my one week experience. The owners were very kind and accommodating. The place is old but at least it’s clean. I would go back there again for sure if I needed a place to stay in the area.

For an older economy motel I totally recommend this place . Staff friendly. Pleasant to deal with . The rooms are reasonably nice . As I say for an economy motel I was very pleased with it . I have stayed in larger brand name motels which were in much poorer condition. I will always recommend this place to all my acquaintances who travel to Nanaimo.

For a motel in Nanaimo bc, I'll giver 5 star, it's a motel what u expect, it's clean, owner is friendly, we checked in at 2.30 am due to late ferry and he welcomed us, definitely one of the cleaner motels on the island.....no complaints
