CONTACTED OVER 1 YR AGO RE A DRIVEWAY AND HAVE LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES FOR ROAD MANAGER STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM.

Have called 3 times to speak with the roads manager for Newtonville area and he has yet to call back

We pay some of the highest property taxes in Durham Region and these guys never plow our road. This is the third time I have had to go out and rescue my stranded wife because she could not get home after leaving work (the midnight shift). She is a front line worker who takes care of our elderly.Where we live does not come with much in the way of services. Every other week, someone comes to pick up our garbage. That is it. The town does minor road maintenance from time to time, filling potholes. Unfortunately they do not even know how to fill and pack a simple hole in the asphalt of the road. They usually just make it worse, due to their tendency to leave large anthills where they dump the filler. Cars invariably drive over them, unevenly compressing the filler and causing damaging asphalt to fly all over the paint of the car. There, it adheres and eats away at what is sometimes a brand new car or truck. I know; I have been there.Whenever there is a bad storm, we never seem to get the plows clearing what are often huge snowdrifts in the road, through which cars can not travel.The first time this happened, shortly after moving in, I got a call in the middle of the night to go to the 5th concession where my wife had become stuck in a snowdrift. The plows had cleared some of the roads running off them, but not the ones where most of us live. This is where I found my wife and several other couples and families who had become stuck in the same snowdrift. I pulled them all out before I was able to get to my wife.After the third time rescuing my wife, January of 2023, she simply decided it was not worth the risk of attempting to navigate our un-plowed roads any more. She had become stuck several times since 2007 and was simply fed up with taking a chance on her life. Even though we are paying for this apparent privilege, life is more valuable than to play a crapshoot with the public servants we pay to make our journey home safe.
