Dr. Hugh Maguire Inc.

I was referred to Dr. Maguire by a dentist who, after an X-ray, found an infection under a molar that was under a bridge. She said that he would be able to save the tooth and the bridge by doing a root canal and removing the infection. After having a scan at his office and getting my jaw frozen, and after extensive drilling, he aborted the procedure because he found a crack in the tooth. I think that should have shown up in the scan. So he charged me $800 and I was no further ahead and because he doesn’t do extractions, which I now needed, I had another dentist pull out the tooth, another $500. The dentist that pulled the tooth was very surprised that I was charged so much for a procedure that failed.

I normally don’t leave reviews, but in this case I’m happy to make an exception. I recently came down with an excruciating toothache. My dentist referred me to Dr. Maguire. The earliest they could find a scheduled appointment was not for ten days; but understanding the pain I was in they would endeavour to find an earlier appointment for an assessment– which they did only a few days later.The assessment traced the root of the problem (pardon the pun), explained the course of treatment and the maximum cost for the procedure – I would not be charged more. This was good to hear because at another nearby facility I experience a lot of addons to the bill, and in two cases was charged double!Although they couldn’t find a date for the procedure (a root canal) for about a week, I was extremely pleasantly surprised to be called the next day and told they had a sudden opening and could work me in.The procedure went smoothly and painlessly. What I liked most was the professionalism I witnessed during the procedure. In the past I’ve experience less professionalism while I had to listen to the doctor and assistants chat about weekend plans, kids soccer scores, etc. It was like the patient wasn’t the highest priority – just something to keep them occupied while they chatted. None of that here. The procedure and patient comfort are priority one. The procedure took an hour and I’m now pain free.In summation, the staff up front are professional and show concern for the patient and do their utmost to help get them in for treatment. Dr Maguire and his Dental assistants are first rate. You couldn’t ask for better.I hope I don’t have to see an endodontist again, but if I do I know where I’m going.

I have had a few root canals by dentists in my lifetime but this one takes the cake. It was probably one of the most impressive and amazing root canals I have ever received. I had absolutely ZERO pain or discomfort during the entire procedure. I mean like ZERO pain even while getting the needle to numb the area. Best experience, hands down. I could have slept through it, literally speaking.

I'll be straight up. I am a gigantic wimp when it comes to dental care. I don't believe I respond to local as well as most. It has been 35 years since my last root canal. To say I have been scared of another would be an understatement! Horrible experience, I had to sit through two sessions of horrible pain back then...so I wound up avoiding a root canal at almost any reasonable cost...that cost, having another molar pulled instead of getting a root canal.Flash forward to this last week when my regular dentist advised me that I will be needing a root canal to save myself the ability to eat steak, I thought I better man up"Well

If you are looking for top-notch, no-nonsense and to the point quality treatment, Dr. Maguire is for you. I have had numerous dental procedures done to me over many years and Dr. Maguire's is by far the best. I'm amazed by how painless (not even a pinch) the whole procedure was from start to finish.Dr. Maguire clearly outlined the process and the entire procedure was conducted with utmost professionalism.It is quite challenging to find good dental specialists/ professionals and I'm so glad to have been refered to Dr. Maguire. My search for an endodontist ends here.Thank you so much Dr. Maguire!

I've been twice over the years for root canals. This is a very organized office with impeccable hygiene practices and knowledgeable staff. Dr. Maguire I believe is extremely competent and says it as it is". I would recommend going to this practice without hesitation. I had a complication with a root canal and they brought me in the same day I called to ascertain what the issue was."

The front office staff were very efficient, kind and professional. A real breeze dealing with the admin staff including the check-in procedure. However, Dr. MaGuire was brief, and seemed disinterested (although clearly very knowledgeable). Overall I left with the impression that because I was not a candidate for a root canal he was disinterested in me and wanted to get me out the door. A week later when I received my referral to an implant specialist, I called Dr. Maguire's office in order to request my CT scans and was met with a voicemail saying they are closed for the entire rest of the month (March) and they are not taking voicemails. I guess this is indicative of the disinterest I felt in the doctor's chair. So, waiting until April to request my CT scans. Typically, specialists I've worked with retain staff to clear out voicemails and attend to front office admin even when they are vacationing. That would show a desire to care for the patients even during the doctor's break. - Adam Medeiros

I was being referred to Dr Maguire by my family dentist for a complicated root canal. Dr Maguire is a very skilled dentist. The whole dental work went smoothly and done successfully. The only thing odd was the clerk came in and got me to sign a consent for the procedure after Dr Maguire finishing giving me the local anaesthetic. Of course, I will sign. But isn't it a very strange thing to do after the procedure has already started?

I can only say that if you are in need of an endodentist, Dr Hugh Maguie should be your first consideration.He and his team are comprised of the utmost consumate professionals. They genuinely care that you will have the most positive outcome.The freezing was [to my pleasant surprise] absolutey painless.This team are definitely there to encourage and assist you in your well being.

Dr. Maguire is clearly one of the most experienced and adept dentists I’ve come across. One of my bottom left teeth had been suffering from sensitivity and Dr. Maguire recommended a root canal to be done on that tooth. Upon signing the consent forms, he swiftly got the procedure done within I’d say 45 minutes. The whole process was painless and way less torturing than I had imagined. Mind you I also have TMD in my right jaw, I usually dread the dentist. However, I was able to endure the whole procedure with relative ease.Highly recommended for anyone with root canal needs.
