McKellar Island Bird Observatory
Bird banding at the McKellar Island Bird Observatory is a great experience for people of all ages. You can drop in any morning during the spring and fall migratory seasons (except when raining or with high winds), and enjoy the outdoors while you learn about and interact with the birds that fly though. I highly recommend it to any nature lovers.

Excellent little spot, cut into the woods with some beautiful coastal frontage. Meagre compared to a government park but very impressive given it is a personal operation- just for the love of birds.

McKellar Island Bird Observatory
The stewards were very knowledgeable and amiable. It was my first experience with this sort of interaction. It was hands on, in that a warbler was banded while there and we were privy to the process. As well, I held the bird before releasing it.

McKellar Island Bird Observatory
This was a lovely place to walk around in the late afternoon, while the sun was lowering and the grasses we're turned shiny golden. We hoped to see some birds, but did not, and that was disappointing, but the beauty was worth it!
