Dorset Lookout Tower

Quite and relaxing. The tower is high and the view on top is really nice. But overall there is not much to do here other than that. There are fees to access this and it's not free

The Doelrset Lookout Tower offers beautiful views over the forests and lakes. It is especially spectacular in the fall to observe the splendid colors. I do understand the security directing people or allowing cars to go to the tower. I do understand they have asked us to be short in order to allow others to enjoy the experience. But I don't understand why a party of about 30 was allowed right at the base of the tower, with loud music and oriental dance. I wish they have cleared, so I could take videos of the scenery as well.

It's best spot to watch maple leaves. It's a well maintained and managed park. There are many potable washrooms, water station, parking spots and ice cream. The view is fantastic! The tower is high enough to watch the scenery. Recommend to by the tickets in advance at weekends.

Must visit place on your trip to Algonquin or Huntsville. Its not only the tower but trails and views around the area are all great. Entry to the area is paid, parking is free. Free drinking water & washrooms available on site.Of course, fall visit is the best but the views in other seasons are breathtaking as well.The tower itself is like a 15 minute thing and provides a 360 degree view of the area.Spend some time sitting at the Peek a Boo Rock. Maybe have lunch or snacks there. Then take the trail down the hill. Its a nice long trail but the way back up is tiring so be careful of you have seniors in your group.A great experience. Nice spot to take guests and tourists.

We loved the views from the top of the Tower. The foot path is quite rugged in places and not suitable for those with walking difficulty or very young children. Some rock scrambling is required and it is steep in places. It would be helpful to have this warning at the start of the foot path.

Hands down, one of the best places to view the fall colors of Ontario. Online reservation is recommended for those who want to drive up the hill (~1km), but if you love the walk, tickets are available in the entrance booth. Reach early if you don't want to be turned away by O.P.P. especially during holidays/long weekend.Porta potties are available near the lookout tower parking area (uphill).The climb up the tower is somewhat steep, so if you have little children, take extra care and precaution. There is only one person controlling the crowd below the tower entrance and you are asked to limit your visit up top to a maximum of 5 minutes. No enforcement though.Overall, a terrific experience to enjoy a good hike and see nature's bountiful creations!

Park for free at the bottom gate in the parking lot and walk up about half a kilometre or drive up to the top and pay the $11.50 toll. Either way, an amazing view from the top of the fire watch tower.

A very small attraction that is worth the hour you spend there. The climb is worth the view. A bit steep. Be careful

Went there during the peak fall-colour season and it didn't disappoint. If you park at the lower level, you need to walk up for around 5-10 mins to reach the tower and that walk is totally worth the trouble. The road is very very scenic. The dorset tower offers a bird's eye view of the lake and fall foliage. However if you happen to be there on a cold day, dress warm because its very windy and cold up at the top. If you havent layered up you might not last more than 5 mins comfortably at the top. I saw toddlers climb up to the top and was simply amazed at that feat, because honestly its not a state-of-the -art tower to say the least. People with a fear of heights be advised. However, the footfall on the tower is monitored if you are worried about safety. Its worth a visit! BUT DO WEAR warm clothes or a wind cheater before climbing up!!! And, get your tickets in advance.
