Spectacular area on beautiful Campobello Island. Lots of parking available. Picnic areas on site. Watch your step; steep cliff areas around. The Lighthouse is only accessible at low tide. You can catch whales close by if your lucky.

It is always a pleasure to visit Head Harbor Lighthouse. If you want to brave the path to the lighthouse, you will need to come at low tide. Be careful but we'll worth the time.

Could not get here for a low tide, required to cross the bar, but the views were great anyway. Rating a place low because you think it's dangerous is abuse of the system. Don't come here, or don't cross the slippery ocean floor, if it's too dangerous for you.

I read that this is the most photographed lighthouse in the world. Don't know if it's true, but it's certainly very scenic. There's a parking lot, and it's an easy walk from the parking lot to a nice view of the lighthouse. If you're feeling adventurous, at low tide you can walk down to ocean level, cross to the island, and climb up to the lighthouse. All at your own risk. We chose not to do this.

This place is beautiful! It is a walk to. You have about a 3 hour window at low tide to cross and enjoy but be sure to head back in time as the tide rises 5 feet in an hour. There are steep metal stairs that some may not like. We missed them but people had been seeing whales just before we got there. Geocache on one of the islands. The light house is a beauty. 51 feet tall. Built in 1829. Partly because of the method of getting there, this was the best of the lighthouses in the area.

I timed the tide correctly but was traveling solo and paid heed to the warnings… and to the old man in the parking lot who said “you know about the tide?”. I descended the stairs but stopped before snaking my way through wet seaweed covered rocks to the beach to the ladder on the island. The difficult part is getting through the rocky area before making it to the flat beach. Yes! It’s on an island! This could be a great adventure if you understand that the tide comes in at 5 feet per hour. There is the danger of slipping and falling in a remote area. Worse—drifting out to sea! Good hiking shoes seem to be in order. Have a watch! Kudos to those who make it over!!

This is quite the experience compared to a regular lighthouse visit! The lighthouse area is only accessible during low tides. You climb down a steep ladder to the exposed shore area, then walk along a bit until climbing back up to walk around the lighthouse. There is a modest admission fee, but the views and adventure to get there is well worth your time!

Great tour if you are able to climb the rocks and stairs. Magnificent old lighthouse and depiction of life as a lighthouse keeper. It's difficult terrain to get there. Only accessable at low tide. But worth it.

A very cool, but dangerous, hike to see a magnificent lighthouse. The hike makes it incredibly clear why the lighthouse is needed! The tides here are an amazing testament to the power of nature, rising 5ft/hr and can leave people stranded without hope of rescue for 8hrs. Be careful! At low tide the hike requires a tricky crossing of seaweed-laden rocks, a sand beach, several steep and rickety ladders that illustrate just how high the tide goes, and a cute little bridge.

Loved the hike out to the lighthouse, and loved that it is only accessible during low tide because you walk on the ocean floor. So cool. I was hoping to go up in it however it didn't seem open yet. No one was there except 2 nice men working on the stairs. We chatted for a bit and off I went. Had to beat the tide ya know.
