review date: december 6, 2021customer service: ongoing since 2018the scotiabank downtown location has a beautiful 1970s interior with operating hours that are not too far off! 930am-5pm sharp, monday thru friday, and no weekend hours.friendly customer service with staff here is going to be a coin flip; some are polite and some are condescending and territorial.there are ATM machines in-store, however the branch closes access to these machines at 5pm everyday, and are closed on weekends. with all the riffraff downtown, i fully understand why the bank does this.my biggest beef with this location is the outdoor ATM, that consistently runs out of money and/or doesn't work properly. if you are a scotiabank customer and this happens, and you are forced to withdraw money at another 3rd party machine, call the branch or the scotiabank call center and request all ATM charges incurred for the affected transaction to be refunded.a shout-out to a staff worker named sherry (back in october 2021) who was empathetic to my plight about a malfunctioning outdoor ATM machine, and she allowed me to use the indoor ATM machine after the bank had closed.bottom line: even though i live downtown, i only would use this branch if absolutely necessary. my in-store banking and mortgage/credit card matters are taken care of at the center mall location.

I've been using this branch for fifteen years, no major problems that can't be sorted out promptly. Staff is always friendly and helpful. No complaints here.

This branch is very hard to get service from. I hate to say this but they hire people who are too scared to talk, you will get more from a robot than an actual person. That is why you have to teach your employees to understand the point of a bank. No wonder people go to other companies!

Excellent customer service by Leena and coworkers.Leena was extremely helpful, patient and kind to us. We had to open a few accounts as internationals, and she went above and beyond. Give this woman a raise!

I’ve had an account with Scotiabank before, and on this occasion I already had an existing account at this branch Downtown Hamilton core. This day an appointment was made to add my wife onto my (2) existing accounts as a “ joint” account and have all our direct deposits and PAP’s arranged to be handled with this institution. On this occasion May 8/2023 at 3:00 P.M. appointment we met a Harsh Shah. Was greeted promptly at 3:00 P.M. entered the office, and my wife had ALL her I.D. Canadian Birth Certificate, SIN Card, Government Issued Pictured OHIP Card, and an Ontario Photo Card (that was expired) but recently renewed by Service Ontario last week and it takes 4-6 weeks in mail for a new card and Service Ontario doesn’t issue you a temporary proof that you renewed it. Long story short, because of the expired Ontario Photo Card of my wife, the 20 year old something bank employee declined to process adding my wife onto my account on the basis of the expired Photo Card? They wanted us seniors with many health ailments to go home a bring a utility bill or credit card bill showing my wife’s proof it’s actually her. This is unmitigated BS protocol to put a client through to put YOUR money into their institution. Needless to say I lost it in the bank, started yelling and all the other employees agreed with the ridiculous protocol simply to add my wife. The manager was walking around in a red T-shirt? Very informal branch, no wonder all the poor ratings. Anyway we went to an financial institution and had absolutely no problem opening an account. Don’t recommend this particular branch it’s a JOKE!

Had the best experience here. I forgot the tellers name but she was so kind, helpful and informative. If I could give her 10 starts out of 5, I would. It's the slim girl with really pretty hair(some silver). If I forgot to say thank you. Thank you so much.

I had been dealing with an issue from an advisor from a different branch location for some time. Chloe at this branch just happened to call me to check in on me and I hesitantly unloaded my complicated issue on her and she was so quick to escalate this issue further. Within 1 week, the assistant manager, Katie, was in regular contact with me to give me updates on the issue until it was finally resolved even though the issue did not start at her brand or with any of her advisors. I am incredibly pleased with the service I received in comparison to what we had been dealing with for months with a different advisor.Thank you very much Katie and Chloe for all your help and support. Looking forward to coming to you with any other needs we have!
