Social Security Administration

Would it hurt for them to stay open at least one hour later? I have been trying to get in to see someone about changing my name on my social security card and some of us work and can't get in before 4pm.

Completely incompetent. I had to send in my paperwork 3 times, each time it got sent back. I called each time to see what I did wrong and needed to change and each time it was different. Now they would like me to send my drivers licence in the mail. Not a copy, my actual drivers licence. In my opinion these people are LAZY and do not care about being proficient. I also do not understand why they are closed. They already have a thick piece of glass in between themselves and the customer. Everywhere else is open, why are they so special?

I am unsure why the social security office gets to be closed yet restaraunts are required to be open? I'm pretty sure having my daughter's social security information for tax purposes is more important than getting a cheeseburger. This process has been so frustrating.Update :Julie reached back out and was able to help me with my issue and save me from having to refile some paperwork which I really appreciate. I do feel that all social security offices should be deemed essential and remain open to the public as not everyone has access to internet or the ability to navigate a website to print off paperwork. I sure know my grandma would struggle with this. But I appreciate Julie at the Great Falls office doing what she could to help me.

I have recently gotten married and called the Great Falls social security office to change my name. When I spoke with the guy on the phone, he told me I needed to send my drivers license. I told him it was illegal to drive without a license, he told me to make a copy and carry that and I would be fine. I asked if I could just make an appointment as I would be in Great Falls in the next few weeks, he said, Sure you can

They legit put my address in their system wrong and mailed my marriage certificate and ss card to someone else. Been on hold for days trying to get it fixed but nobody can figure out how to help or return my voicemails.

I applied for a new SSN card here on a Friday. Arrived 10 minutes before they open and I was the only person waiting. The security guard who opened the door was very friendly and helpful. They still require masks but they will provide if you forgot to bring one. The staff who helped me was very nice and personable. Application process took ~25 minutes from start to finish.

Best experience I have dealing with the government. Everyone is friendly, and there even has a play area for my kids to play while waiting.

I asked if I could use a photocopy of my driver's license as a valid ID. The man on the phone said yes. I finished the papework and a week later an envelope arrived with a notice that my application was rejected on the grounds of an invalid ID." You CANNOT use a photocopy of your ID.Also

Will not send my actual drivers license to them via mail... been trying to get my daughters so card for over a year... don't understand why they are so special and don't have to open the office. Get off your ssses people!:do your job!
