Buick's Karate Dojo

I have been at this karate dojo for over 5 years, and I highly recommend joining! You don't just receive belts at this club, you have to earn them! Sensei Buick also enforces excellent manners, and discipline in a great way. When I first joined, I did not appreciate or understand why he was so strict... Now at 10 years old, I am grateful for his style of teaching. I consider Buick's Karate Dojo to be equivalent to the NHL of karate!

Great dojo! Sensei Buick has been my Sensei for almost 4 years! He pushes every student to reach their full potential! It is a good environment to help students learn to always over come obstacles, hard work always comes with success and it is the best place to learn Karate!I’ve noticed that younger students learn to focus and listen more intently when they begin training on the floor!Try a free class! You won’t regret it!!

If you want to have fun this is not the place for you. This place is only for people who want to become a walking Wrecking ball lol seriously!! this dojo is a serious dojo. Don’t join unless your really serious and disciplined. I had my son enrolled because he was being bullied. Three months of my son coming to the dojo began to give my son confidence and let’s just say the bullying stopped almost immediately. I praise joe Buick for his insight techniques, knowledge and enlightenment. There is no other instructor who demonstrates such passion for the art. He deserves this review.

Great place and great coach, some times he gets carried away too much, but all he wants is the best for the kids.All the bad reviews are from parents who brought their kids to play, rather then train, to gain discipline and become stronger.My kid goes here for a year now, he is only 5 and he enjoys it.

I have been training here for over 8 years. I can say 100% you will not find this type of environment anywhere else except from the country of origin.I have seen many come and go, and I have noticed those who stay continue to grow into better and stronger people who are able to show confidence as they slowly realize to become great at something you must work very hard to be great.The bad reviews for this place does not match my experience here at all.I 100% recommend this place to anyone who is willing to: learn great life lessons, gain wisdom from a man's past mistakes and experience, and lastly work hard to achieve something.- Vincent Le

Buick's Karate Dojo was the first place ever where I felt proud to be a woman. Sensei Joseph Buick has broken so many of my limitations simply by sharing his ways of living and has provided me a home, a mother, and a father all in one. For anyone that gets to know Sensei, they are the luckiest people as their way to success in life is all paved! And anyone that does know him will have experienced his true colors to be as bright as his heart and his incredibly positive outlook on life. A reminder to those seeking friendly environments in a Karate club, that is not the point of a Martial Arts club! Sensei's floor will teach you and/or your kids what it is like in the real world where it is sometimes a matter of life and death. We are taught the laws of the jungle, which unfortunately are a reality to many living on this planet, but also come the lessons of how to avoid conflict and build a better world through hard work, respect, and honesty. Thank you Sensei for allowing me to be a part of your club. The day I earn my black belt will be the happiest day of my life. Arigato Gozaimasu!

Buick's karate is a place where you don't just learn karate, but you also learn and earn respect. He has a way of correcting your mistakes that helps you remember not to do it again. This is a really great dojo to join.

I have trained under Sensei Buick since I was about 9 years old.. His location at the time was further east near Keele Street, on Major Mac. I trained in the Dojo for well over 8 years. Growing up and attending school and jobs required efforts and time elsewhere, I had to part with the Dojo. As a child I really just took the activity as a challenge and a sport, not realizing the effects of the mental and physical exercises I was doing. From a young age Sensei Buick instilled in me a path to personal responsibility, a joy in competition with others, self awareness, compassion for others, mental fortitude under duress, and the ability to carry respect for myself and others. This was just a small sample of the tools I have developed in my life, with Sensei Buick planting the foundations and seeds for me to foster, if I chose to. I stand today 26 years old with many jobs and successes under my belt. Each and every step of the way instilling a unique and positive footprint on the people and challenges I faced. I strongly believe his fundamental guidance's helped me develop into a person people can trust in. I am a graduate computer engineer, have done electrical work & construction, worked retail jobs, I am a freight broker, and a firefighter. I thank you for building something you never were able to see grow.... I thank you for your humble dedication to your profession and hobby that grants you no great financial fortune at the end of the day. I know now why you keep doing it... you did it for us. You do it because you believe it. Thank you.

I have been training at this Dojo since 2010 and I can tell you that this place has an atmosphere that you cannot find anywhere else! The owner is a man who is honest to a fault, and will never lie to you. He will push you to you absolute breaking points and beyond to show you that you are more capable than you believe. Some of the focuses that are instilled in this Dojo are: Self Discipline, the attitude of constant improvement, and to strive towards perfection with each breath and action that you take. I would recommend this Karate club to anyone who is seeking to improve the quality of their life because after being here for so long, you gain a different perspective and outlook on life. I have been here for Eight years and have no intention of leaving any time soon!
