Mountainside Golf Course
Beautiful, inexpensive golf course on the side of the mountain in Fairmont. Absolutely worth a play if you're staying in the valley with a set of clubs.

This course may offer less variety of terrain and sights perhaps than the Riverside course but is quite beautiful and in great shape in its own right. Played it three times recently in September and early October and it wasn’t overly busy which allowed for a relatively relaxing round. Generally the staff are very accommodating and friendly. On the back nine of the second round I played we were asked to pick up the pace by the course Marshall. We weren’t playing particularly slow but there were a few groups behind us so I was okay with him asking us to pick it up a bit as they have their job to do, but then he followed us closely for the next three holes by which time we were well ahead of the trailing groups so it felt like unnecessary harassment. He finally left us alone when one of our group asked him if he was going to follow us all the way in and he finally decided to leave us alone. Aside from this incident I have enjoyed the course and will continue to play it.

My personal favorite course on the Columbia Valley Golf Trail. Not a conventional course, but worth the time. Friendly staff and a nice restaurant. If you are looking for mountain golf, this is the place for you

Pretty good course. Staff was super friendly. My only complaint was that when I booked online we got apparently a deal of 160 for 2 players. But there was no restaurant and we had to play around all the sprinklers the whole game. Other than that I still had a pretty good time.

Great course that is starting to show a little wear and tear. It doesn't appear to be as well maintained as it was in the past. Grass growing in some of the bunkers and the clubhouse is looking like it needs some help. The course is still fun to play and it's less expensive than many of the newer courses in the valley.

This is a $35-$40 course max. Very pretty but not very interesting. Only 2 holes are slightly curved, the others are dead straight. If you like cute little varmints (gophers?), you will like the course. There are hundreds. For the amount they charge, it seems like the traps should be raked smooth and the greens perfect. And there should be at least 1 drink cart driving around. Neither was the case.If you can save money by walking, do it. It is a very walkable course contrary to what they tell you.

A group of us (12 guys) booked this golf course as part of a golf weekend. So, let me start with the positives (and there are not many):The people working the snack bar and pro shop were great. We had a easy check-in and we had nothing but a positive experience with these specific people. The starter, who was put in a bad situation by the marshal (see below) was great. He did his best to accommodate us and did a good job at that. Now, the negatives.1. Marshal – we have a guy who plays barefoot. Typically this is not a issues at any course I have ever played. The marshal had a HUGE issue with this. So much so he was willing to forfeit all our green fees and potential revenue from alcohol sales. This guy who had to be in late 60’s was a total d-bag. Our friend agreed to wear sandals but this same marshal once again was a d-bag and preferred to give us our money back even though the course allows open toe spikeless golf sandals. Get over yourself marshal!2. Food – what food. You would think this golf course would have more than three sandwiches and hot dogs available knowing there is a group of 12 guys coming. No food available – what a joke! At least the beer was cold I guess.3. Ground Hogs – there were 100’s of them all over the course! Clean that up for gods sake. You green fees weren’t cheap and this is just a total embarrassment for your course, membership and people living around your course.4. Pace of Play – so we were three foursomes playing best ball. So pace should not have been bad – and it wasn’t. But the course sent 2 twosomes out behind our last group who kept hitting up on our guys. Really? You couldn’t have started these clowns on number 9 knowing there are three foursomes ahead playing together? Great course management!Lastly, there were so many negatives that out weighed the positives that this group will NEVER play this course again! Thank you to the staff who made it bearable and to the others – please move on. Your doing this course a HUGE disservice.

This is a fun and friendly course that's been at Fairmont since the early days of the resort. Full length, with a few tricky holes that are particularly unique and challenging. I've played here for decades and it is still evolving and improving. My only minor complaint this time is the 85000 gophers and gopher holes, mainly on the south end.

I would firstly like to say that my family and I had come to play at mountain side many times over the years and we have always raved about the laid back experience and great staff to everyone, ( which has drastically changed)But unfortunately it was not the case this time.Having a friend here fly half way across the world from south africa to play the course that I had praised for months before his arrival. We were turned away for only having one bag.Now let me state a fee things.1. There were only 6 cars in the parking lot. ( and was not filling up fast) it was a Saturday.2. It's $90 fees for a $50 quality course and clubhouse. (Small coffee is $4 dollars, bring your own)3. We are efficient golfers that have a clear understanding of rules. ( yes I know we should have two bags but he could only bring so much luggage.)4. We understand that two bags are needed and would have ensured our game play was up to speed.5. We drove a total of 70km to the course and back and had our time and fuel wasted.6. As I have a family at our radium accommodation our time for play was wasted.7. Total cost of revenue lost.- $190 for gree fees.- $ 100 beers, snacks and tips.- $? Revenue lost For not returning to mountain side to play again.
