During Sebastian's astrophotography workshop I never worried as to whether we’d be able to see the stars that night. His vast knowledge and ability to distill the world of photography into any skill range allowed him to seamlessly incorporate other events and techniques in our time spent at Mont-Mégantic. In these moments it was easy to see his love for photography in the way that it spread through the group like wildfire! Such as the moment when we turned the cabin into a photo studio, using whatever we could find as light diffusers in our impromptu portrait session. I've worked directly with Seb Furtado and indirectly together over the past several years and I can completely attest to his professional manner, creative eye, and authentic nature. In 2018, I joined two photography trips that Sebastian was organizing, and even though I knew I had learned a lot, it really hit me when I realized how much my photography has improved ever since. Both workshops were great experiences, Sebastian did an amazing job in combining fun activities and knowledge transfer, exploring and learning, and addressing different aspects of photography. Also, it was cool to meet new people and discover new places with my camera. These two workshops were limited in time, but the learning experience continued, and I can still feel and see the impact they have had on me:I was recently going through my photographs and I noticed major shifts, not just an improvement of quality, but also in regards to how my approach to and relationship with photography has changed. Sebastian and his workshops have massively contributed to this development and my artistic growth. He has shared skills, knowledge, experience and perspectives that have really helped me move away from taking random snaps towards taking actual photographs.Me now being able to conceptualize and evaluate my photos, taking into account various variables such as perspective, angle, camera settings, framing, composition, movements, light, shadow, and their textures and moods, shows how impactful the experience was that Sebastian was able to create. I can highly recommend his photography trips and workshops, not only for the fun part, the skills and resources offered but also for understanding photography and its processes on a deeper level.

I went to one of Sebastian's workshops and it was totally worth it, I learned a lot of new useful tips and techniques that helped me improve my photography skills. Besides that, I had a really good time with everyone else in the group because Sebastian is a really cool guy and makes everyone feel comfortable from the beginning! Seb did invaluable work in helping me set up my studio for audio/video production. He soundproofed three separate spaces, selected microphones and other equipment and setup lighting that looked good and was comfortable. He worked through the software and recording process in order to make sure everything looked good and sounded good and was easy to use. I was doing live video streams so everything had to work out of the box.His company is basically a one stop shop for studio setup. I would certainly hire him again the next time I need to setup a studio or do a big audio visual project.

Sebastian Furtado is one of the most multi-talented people I have worked with in my 15 years of documentary filmmaking. He was an incredible asset during the production of my feature documentary, The Walrus and the Whistleblower (Hot Docs Audience Award winner, 2020). In the field, he sometimes had to wear several hats at once: stills photographer, camera assistant, and multi-cam DIT. I know few people who could excel at all those roles the way Sebastian did. Amidst all that, he somehow managed to keep an eye on me as the director to make sure I had what I needed. Not only was he a joy to be around while travelling, he was efficient, reliable, kind, creative and solid as oak. He is a gem and I would highly recommend him for any manner of project.

I have been trying my hand at photography for a few years now but never had an in-depth knowledge on using a camera with manual settings. I had always wanted to learn how to take photos properly and Sebastian’ was there to guide me the whole way through.He is incredibly easy to work with and is extremely knowledgeable in his field. He has a flexible schedule and he is quite easy to coordinate with. We tailored the entire program to what my needs were and what I wanted to learn. Talking with Sebastian is quite the delightful experience within itself as he composes himself professionally but also is very warm and friendly. He has given me all the tools I need now to become the photographer I always wanted to be. I also have been learning Lightroom because of him which I really appreciate as it is a wonderful program to use for photography in general.Thank you, Sebastian, for giving me this opportunity and for being incredibly helpful.
