VIVA Whitby Shores Retirement Community

Diana took my husband and myself for a tour of this Community. I was looking at it specifically for Assisted Living for my mother - although they do have a variety of care levels available. The building is beautiful inside and out. The resident rooms are bright and spacious as are any of the other areas throughout the residence. It had a resort type feel to it - bright and cheery. Ample parking is available, which isn't always the case. The fact that they have a nurse, on duty 24 hours a day is a great add. There is not one thing I did not like about this Retirement Community.

Upon our recent experience at viva Whitby shores we cannot say enough positive comments that reflect the enthusiasm and care that each employee showed us. Our mother has lived in the same house for 53 years with 23 of those on her own. We thought she was never going to leave giving us 6 siblings concern for her well being. Mom is now in her 2nd month living at viva and she just loves it. We couldn’t be happier for her. Thanks viva

My parents moved into VIVA Whitby Shores in early March, just after they opened and just before the pandemic. Our experience thus far has been exceptional to say the least. The facility is beautiful, but the key to it being exceptional is the staff. They truly care about the residents and they obviously love their jobs. Their main concern during the pandemic has been the safety of everyone, but at the same time, making sure there were lots of activities and excitement to keep everyone occupied. I would highly recommend VIVA. The staff are amazing!

This retirement home is great for the old folks. But the people working there are retched. They’re rude and loud and I’m positive many of the servers come in drunk or high. I have heard stories from my parents in there that they are swearing and being disrespectful to other staff. Not to the retirees though. So if you want to work here I’d advise you not too as it probably wouldn’t be good for your mental health.

My father is enjoying this residence immensely. The on-site care is very convenient. The staff are friendly and the food is good. They really care about the residents and their families. AGreat improvement on my dads quality ofLife !!

If you are looking for the perfect retirement community in Durham Region, look no further. Absolutely beautiful facility with well appointed suites and marvelous common areas, professional, supportive and compassionate staff, and exceptional lifestyle options.My Mom has lived here since its opening six months ago, and even though there have been challenges brought about by COVID, the staff have exemplified the five values of VIVA: Be a friend; Make it better; Love what you do; Work as a team; Have fun! Staff did everything within their power and within the legislation to build a community feeling through relationships and offering very creative fun activities through the support of The Wellness Team.Common spaces are gorgeous from the activity room, the pool, the pub, the theatre, the golf simulator and the dining room. Speaking of the dining room, the food is restaurant quality under the direction of their creative executive chef and staff.The leadership team is thoughtful and kind. Both my Mom and all of our family have felt appreciative of their welcoming nature and understanding.If you haven’t figured it out yet, I would highly recommend VIVA Whitby Shores.

We moved my mother in November. The experience has exceeded our expectations. Everyone is greeted with a smile. The friendly and genuine attention displayed to my mother, and all “community members” is very special. The food is amazing (I have eaten there twice) with a wide variety of choices and daily features. This was definitely the right decision and fit for her. My mother has blossomed since her time at VIVA.

Such a lovely retirement home and just 3 minute walk to drug store, coffee shop, bank, restaurants and pet store. My friends Mom receives excellent care there and is very comfortable. So nice to be close to the water.

My mother moved into Whitby Shores in June 2020. Given the Covid pandemic there were understandably a few restrictions but the staff have been tremendous at welcoming her and ensuring she settled in quickly. They are truly thoughtful and caring!Shortly after Mom moved in, she had a few larger items that needed to be brought up to her suite. Understandably no family members are allowed into the suites at this time for covid health &safety reasons but the staff have been very helpful and accommodating and making this happen. I would especially like to give a shout out to Cam, the maintenance director who has been incredibly kind and thoughtful.If you are considering a retirement community I would highly recommend that you visit Viva Whitby Shores and give them an opportunity to introduce you to what they have to offer.
