R sushi

First impression was poor. Was not greeted at the door. Had to ask if we could sit even if the restaurant was completely empty.The menu has random images scattered all over it. Some images beside food names are actually of food on the other side of the menu.Ordered drinks, server pulled drinks from a fridge that is stuck open. Waste of energy and will obviously not keep anything inside it cold or fresh. When we received our drinks, they weren't just not cold- they were actually warm. Instead of receiving cups with ice to easily solve the issue, the server just put our drinks in the freezer for 5 minutes and gave it back to us. Obviously, our drinks were very warm. I doubt they even have cups in the restaurant. The management don't care about sustainability either considering they only serve water in single-use plastic bottles. This made me assume that this is part of why the food is more expensive than it's actually worth.After ordering our food, we received it 10 minutes later- except we received only one out of 2 our meals. What made it worse that our appetizer arrived another 10 minutes later- after one of us had finished half of the meal. Completely took out the whole point of appetizers.We ate their Salmon Don and Gyu Don which topped off our bad experience. Food tasted extremely lackluster compared to the price. R Sushi also has $80 donburi on their menu, but don't even know the basics of making one worth $5 that they've priced at over $20.The salmon sashimi was warm as well. Everything that was supposed to be cold and fresh was warm. Imagine eating warm raw salmon. Even the rice was very dry- gives the experience of eating a donburi (rice bowl) much worse.Was initially excited to go to a new sushi restaurant 5 minutes away from home, but started my disappointment the moment I walked in the door. Will likely not return.

The best takeout sushi I’ve had in Toronto with reasonable pricing. Their presentation is always beautiful. Your food comes with flowers! In terms of fish and rice freshness I believe they are the best sushi shop around the area. Their torch sushi are a must try.

Got takeout from here the other day and was thoroughly impressed with what we got! The fish was fresh, Bento boxes were beautifully decorated and the rice was well seasoned. Serving size was also great. Will definitely go in-person to dine!

tastes so good! if you are not familiar or don’t like the fishy scent, this place would be perfect for you! Sauces on fish and rice hide away fishy scent and they literally melts in your mouth. If you want some quality fish that you want to taste and feel the texture of the fish, this won’t be a perfect place though.

Ordered take out from R Sushi today and was pleasantly surprised by their quality. Usually when a sushi place is operated by Chinese owners, you know the quality won’t be the greatest. In exchange you’ll get great value from lower prices and this was no exception. We received an online promotion from a local YouTuber and our 50pc sashimi and sushi platter was $45 tax included!! This is already a win in my eyes but the quality of the platter is very good. Sashimi was fresh and rolls also have plenty of ingredients and not just rice. If there are vinegar in the rice then it would be even better. All in all we will definitely go back again!

This might just be the best sushi spot in the Yonge and finch area, and the reason is the phenomenally fresh tasting fish! Walked in here as my favourite local spot was closed, and I was very pleasantly surprised. At first, I debated going elsewhere upon seeing that the menu items were a bit pricier than the usual for sushi, but I ended up staying.I was so impressed by the beautiful presentation and yummy food!The only downside was that we were the only diners in the restaurant the whole time, but the service wasn’t great. We found ourselves having to go up to the waitress’ area to ask for things on three occasions, which isn’t an issue I’ve encountered many times. they were getting a lot of Uber eats orders, so maybe that was a factor in this.

Beautifully presented sushi that tasted equally as delicious. In North York we have a lot of amazing affordable takeout sushi spots but the fish at R sushi was high quality while not being too expensive. We got a torch combo and salmon ikura bowl. I loved their roll the most but everything was extremely good. Highly recommend giving R Sushi a try!
