My youngest sister is starting Jazz Dance soon so we went to buy her Jazz Dance shoes for her class. I myself did not enter the store, but my mom and my sisters did. My review is based on what they told me as soon as they returned from the store.According to them, there was a sign on the door that said 'please knock and wait outside' or something along those lines (the door was locked to the outside). My mom knocked and saw that an employee inside noticed it. However, instead of coming to open the door for my mom and sisters, they told one of their coworkers to open the door for them. My mom and sisters then had to wait several minutes out in fairly chilly and wet weather (still under cover, thankfully). Once my mom and sisters were allowed inside the store, instead of being allowed to browse around, they were restricted to staying where they were. This is understandable, as we are still amidst the pandemic. However, once my mom and sisters told the employees that they were looking for Jazz Dance shoes and relayed the appropriate size, one of the workers brought a pair of dance shoes and, without waiting for the customers' approval, took them to the cash register so that my mom could pay for it. There was no variety available which is annoying but is not a huge problem as long as they are high quality. Once my mom and sisters were taken to the cash register, then and ONLY then did they learn about the price of the shoes. According to the employees, the shoes cost $65. We find this quite expensive for a pair of kids' Jazz Dance shoes and especially so since we do not yet know whether my youngest sister will continue with Jazz Dancing or not. When my mom made it clear that she did not intend on purchasing the shoes, the employee at the cash register called their coworker over and told them to escort my mom and sisters to the door. This is my family's experience at Dance Box in Coquitlam.Overall, the quality of the customer service at Dance Box was unsatisfactory and rude and the shoes are overpriced as they can be bought for a cheaper (but still not amazing) price online. It also doesn't help that the only reason we went to Dance Box was because they were advertising a 40% sale on their website which was clearly not the case. I think that they are able to get away with sub-par customer service and high prices because they are one of the only dance supplies stores in the area. I made a quick Google search and the closest dance supplies stores that I could find were in Vancouver and Delta. My family will definitely not be coming back to Dance Box anytime soon.

Spoke with a lady on the phone regarding inventory for the kids at dance box since I’m new to the whole dance scene and she was completely rude. Super dismissive and unprofessional. Please learn how to talk with customers to make them feel comfortable and maybe try to sound less judgemental.

I called yesterday morning on how much a pair of tap shoes for kid charge because there was no price on the goods on their website. The lady who answered the phone said $35 and this was the cheapest they had. 10 minutes later I called again to confirm the price, because I only need the shoes for a 5-day camp, and we had to drive 21km from Vancouver west to Coquitlam. The same lady confirmed on the phone the price $35 and said they had full size for it. After we arrived, a young lady welcomed us, gave us a pair of shoes to try and helped choosing the right size for my daughter in a very patient, nice and professional way. I made a payment of $40.95, believing it was the amount for $35 after tax. However, when I looked at the receipt on my way home, I noticed the price for the shoes were actually $39. I called again and asked why, the lady said the price went up because of Covid and she was not sure what happened in the first two calls because she was not the one who answered those calls. Well, 4 dollars was not a big deal, but I really want to know what really happened. I checked twice the price on the phone before I went there, and surely Tyette N625 was the cheapest tap shoes for kid on the market, still there was this unexpected chapter. There were only two ladies in the store when I visited yesterday, so it would not be hard to find out what went wrong exactly. Sadly it should have been a happier purchasing experience.Update: Got an explanation and a refund of the difference from the owner. Thanks.

They are following covid protocols so unfortunately no opportunity to browse, having said that, the lady who helped with me ballet shoes was very knowledgable and found me what I was looking for. There was no discussion of price so I didn't know how much everything would cost until I was rung up... This store has it all, but not my favorite shopping experience

They were really serious about their own COVID-19 protocol. My feeling was like the beginning of the Pandemic, and totally forgot that already 2 years has passed and we got vaccinated. We went over there to buy tap shoes for my daughter, and I'd like to see their ballet suits as well but changed my mind and just bought the shoes and left the store.

We went to the Dance Box to get my daughter's first set of clothes and shoes for dance. They were extremely knowledgeable and got us everything we needed. They made sure the fit was right for shoes which is very important. I appreciate their very thorough health and safety protocols in the store as well. All-around a very well run establishment, and we will be back again.

Fantastic customer service here! Lucia was so helpful and friendly while I shopped for a leotard for myself.I'm taking beginner ballet with my daughter and because I'm just a few months postpartum, I was flummoxed to learn that a leotard and tights are required for all ages! Lol.However, trying on leotard and finding a comfortable suitable one for the classes was not as a daunting a task as I had worried it would be. I will certainly recommend and shop here again myself!

Was turned away at the door by ignorant employee/owner because I am unable to wear a mask due to severe sensitivities and existing medical condition. Not only do they continue to enforce indoor masking after the provinces’ health authority has lifted these restriction, but they enforce masking regardless of ones medical risks/exemption associated. This is a direct violation and infringement on people’s well-being based on their ignorance by continuing to enforce something the public health authority is no longer enforcing. I can go to a restaurant and not wear a mask with the server serving me not wearing a mask or the grocery store, but to enter their corner store I MUST wear a mask.Simply put... they are violating people medical rights and setting themselves up for lawsuits by putting an individuals’ health at risk and ignoring their medical conditions/exemptions if they go into their store. I’m not sure who these ppl think they are when it comes to peoples’ health-risks but they certainly do not want you in their store if you are unable to wear/support a mask regardless of any medical risks associated. They rather put your health at risk to continue enforcing something that is no longer required... with no one else in the store to boot. Their ignorance is bliss!Good luck staying in business!

Nice location at a new plaza at the junction between Burnaby and Coquitlam where you can find all what you want for dance classes. Prices are a little high but it’s like everything nowadays parking is spacious in the plaza. Working hours ends at 5 PM, make sure to be there before closing time to be able to buy what you want.
