McKay Bay Lodge

I stayed at McKay Bay Lodge earlier this year and it was an excellent vacation. The accommodation was great, the hot tub was fun and the owners are incredibly friendly. We were treated to some of the best fishing I have ever done. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful adventure.

We had an amazing time this August fishing at McKay Bay Lodge, I could not have asked for a better trip. The accommodation's were top notch and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful leading up to the stay/while we were there. The guides were friendly and safe, we got into a ton of fish both salmon and halibut. I would highly recommend this lodge!

We've been fortunate to stay here each year for the past 8 years and intend to go back annually. The overall experience at the lodge is second to none. The staff are welcoming, accommodating and on their game everytime.The food is abundant and delicious (breakfast, lunch and dinner).The accommodations options are excellent - this past trip we stayed in the new Forest View cabin which has 4 bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms, an open concept living area and a foyer to store your gear. We've stayed in the main lodge as well as the water front cabins - they all are great.The owner, Brian and his family have done an amazing job with the lodge, the amenities and the staff.Fishing out of The McKay Bay Lodge in Bamfield is easy when everything is provided to you from one location, food, fishing boats, guides and water taxi to and from the main dock. They'll portion and vacuum pack your catch for you to travel home.Don't hesitate to book this great destination.

This is a beautiful fishing lodge located at the western edge of Vancouver Island at Bamfield. It is run by Cheryl and Brian MacKay and they are excellent hosts. The rooms are cozy and well furnished. All three meals, breakfast, lunch and supper are provided in the stay package. One can visit this remote place to enjoy the peace and serenity of a coastal village besides the Pacific Ocean. A walk to Brady's Beach and the harbour boardwalk are some the favourite treks.

McKay Bay Lodge was a wonderful experience and we would recommend booking for a unique Vancouver Island getaway. The staff were extremely accommodating and gave VIP treatment to my wife and her mother (87 yrs old) while we were out fishing each day. All the details were taken care of from the time we were picked up at the dock after arriving on the Frances Barkley to the day we left. Definitely a highlight of our vacation.

Great value at McKay Bay! Nice quiet room with three meals a day (packed lunch), boat moorage, fish cleaning station with vacuum bags, marine store with gas, hot tub, plus lots more. House staff is very nice and helpful. Plus great fishing 10 minutes from the lodge. Will be going back for our 4th year in 2020 ☺️

This was my first time at McKay Bay Lodge and I will definitely be going back. The staff and owners were knowledgeable about the history of the area and were attentive without being intrusive. The food was fantastic! The lodge was comfortable, cozy and large enough to feel seclusive. The site is beautiful and the boat tour of the surrounding area was breathtaking. A rural site with all the amenities! Thank you McKays and staff!! See you soon!

This comfortable gem on the coast of West Bamfield is an amazing place to stay. The meals that are included are sooo tasty and there is plenty of snacks to grab when you feel like nibbling. I would highly recommend hiring a charter boat to take you out fishing. We were there during halibut and salmon season and we'll definitely have some in our freezer to enjoy in the future. This family run business makes you feel at home. I absolutely would love to go back.
