What do you expect from a bank located in downtown Winnipeg?Massive lineups on Mondays since many nearby banks are closed?CheckThe usual crush of people during any break or lunch hour?CheckRandom homeless striking up conversations with you in line?CheckA surprisingly smooth flow of customer traffic despite the above?Oh?Incredibly personable and informative staff?Yes, pleaseThis was my Monday morning in a nutshell. I came in on what I was informed was the wrong day of the week after making a joke about the line to Sheila, the teller that assisted me.It would be easy to be frustrated working here on a Monday, and even easier to treat every client like the next waste of 5 minutes of your life. We're all guilty of it.Despite it being Monday morning; despite the never ending line; Sheila was all smiles and nothing but personable. She made some useful recommendations to me based on the situation I described to her and even more importantly, talked to me person to person - not teller to client. If someone from this location is reading this, give Sheila a pat on the back, a good job"

Anika was very helpful and professional. She helped me open an account very quickly and explained everything in specific detail about my account. She displayed such professional customer service and made me feel like I made the right choice by choosing RBC. I give 5 stars to Anika and a very big thank you.

Kristin like to help you if she likes you and if she doesn't like you she is cares less she had no respect towards me and has no welcoming face and I had to go to a different branch to get my money when I could've got it here.I do not recommend.

Not helpful. Avoid Shiana (blonde with tattoos and fake brows) worst bank I have EVER been associated with.

The wait time at this bank is ridiculous! More tellers are needed at peak times. I’m currently in a line up of 20 customers and there are only 2 tellers working. Staff breaks should not be taken during a business’ peak hours. Restaurant workers eat their meals outside of regular mealtime hours, I see no reason why bank tellers can’t do the same. Or just hire more staff… you have enough business to afford it.

I think the staff do their best, but the branch is very busy and understaffed. In my last few experiences, I waited at least 45 minutes between walking through the doors and talking to a teller. It would be less time to go to the next closest branch for everyday banking needs.

I quit RBC years ago but was recently required to deal with them.I asked them to provide verification that I had closed my account and provided them with the account number. They insisted that they could not find the information and requested the transit number. I didn't know it, myself, since I haven't been their customer in many years. But even the absence of information would have sufficed--all I asked them to do was type a letter that states I don't bank with them. They claimed they could not do this. The tellers shouted back and forth across the packed location (Friday afternoon, but frankly there was an insane lineup even on a Monday morning) about my personal info, which I found to be very unprofessional. I understand that I am not your client, but you could be a little more private?I returned on Monday morning with a letter from the government stating they required proof that my accounts were closed with RBC. The tellers there looked at the letter, again insisted that they could do nothing for me, and then told me they would provide me a letter for $20. What!? 5 mins ago you don't do letters, now they cost $20? I was outraged, so I walked away.I contacted the government official I was dealing with and explained the situation to him. He told me he had dealt with RBC in the past and received verification for other people. I implored him to allow me to bypass this one hurdle but he tells me I must verify that I no longer bank with RBC...I got back in the line, showed a different teller the same letter, and she refused to verify the information or stamp the letter, stating she has never done it before and that she won't do it for me.She asked for my email and phone number. What does this have to do with anything? Not only do I not know the email or phone number I would have used with RBC, but if you cannot find my account with the provided account and transit number, what makes you think a phone number or email address will help? The woman I dealt with (Carrie) offered to put in a request for information (which is extremely inconvenient to the requirements I have to legally disclose my financial information to the government) so I went with the option she gave me. But it's not my fault if I am being asked to provide proof of the information, and I was given a week to do it. It's not like I showed up last second, I went there on the same day it was asked of me.I am glad that Carrie put in the request (she claims to have put a rush on it) but I cannot fathom the reason why RBC insists on making this situation so drawn out and difficult. I don't understand why I am being treated like this. I have spent roughly 2 hours waiting in this location, having my privacy disregarded and being mistreated, shunned and dismissed despite waiting along with your clients (three times), I was perfectly pleasant until your branch tried to charge me $20...I mean really? The treatment I received at this location feels discriminatory and I was embarrassed for no reason other than the tellers here have no sense of human decency or respect for others. I am really bothered by the complete lack of understanding and the disregard for my personal information.
