If I could give no stars I would!I hired a truck from them,I inspected it when I picked it up and so did they ,it took them precisely 3 minutes to inspect it as he rushed me in to the office to sign the paperwork which mentions any previous damage. . I had it for half a day, paid for a full day, which I didn’t mind. When I picked it up it had just been washed, everything seemed ok with the quick inspection they gave me. They tried to sell me insurance which I didn’t need, as my insurance covers me. I have hired from them before and they have never tried to sell me insurance, he seemed pretty insistent that I have it,but I refused…why pay for something I already have. When I returned it, they found a small mark on the plastic around the engine grill.that measured less than 3/4 of an inch and blamed me for doing it. I certainly did not cause any damage to that vehicle. I had to wait half an hour before they served me…so it was unattended in the car park for half an hour. The car park is part of the hotel. The inspection this time took him 15 minutes.If I had damaged the vehicle, number one I would have known, number two I would have pointed it out. I was with vehicle all the time except for when it was on their car park. They charged me $500, for something I didn’t do.The moral of this story is if you hire from them, take a picture from every angle and don’t be rushed into inspecting it.Upon return have someone with you to wait with the vehicle, don’t leave it unattended. I don’t know if the vehicle was damaged when I picked it up, the inspection was rushed and the vehicle was wet, so it could have been missed ,or it was done while it was left unattended in their car park….I know I didn’t do it and let the manager know.

Absolutely horrible customer service I received from an employee named June.I will never rent from National again. I needed a car because my car was being serviced at Toyota 200 meters from the national office. There was a communication mix at Toyota i was told they didn’t have a courtesy vehicle for me. I rented a car from National and then Toyota let me know they could supply me a car and I would not need a rental car. So I did sign contract and then was informed I wouldn’t need the car, this was a total of 12 mins after I signed the rental agreement. l had not put a single KM on the car and they told me I signed the contract and they had to charge me for a day.Common sense and customer service was not present in the interaction at all and because of that National will not see my business ever again.He told me I should be happy because I don’t need to rent a car anymore. It was the principal that he could not just void the contract because it was 12 minutes from when I rented the car to the time the situation changed.I have family constantly come to visit in Victoria more than 1 guest a month they all rent cars and will be informed not to rent from national.In this new era of covid and no supply of rental cars people and companies think the customer is lucky that the company found them a car. Customer service leaves an impression and these times will change and the impression the horrible customer service has will last forever.Budget, Hurtz or Enterprise has been great to rent from.

The car we got was super clean, and the guy who helped us was awesome and super helpful. Plus the rental was super cheap compared to other car rental places. This will be our go to car rental from now on. Thank you for making a stressful time for us way less stressful. ☺️ Really appreciate it.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION! If I could give negative stars I would! We booked a 15 person rental van for a group trip from Victoria to Vancouver 5 weeks in advance. 24hrs before we were scheduled to pick up the 15 person van the manager called to notify us that the vehicle was unavailable due to maintenance". The manager offered us 2 Mini Vans instead and said he would match the original booking price of $400 total ( 2 credit cards @ $200 per card when picking up the 2 vans ). I notified him that since we would now be using two Mini Vans instead of the original 15 person van

Didn't release my deposit until I called them 5 days later to inquire about it for a second time. I was told it hadn't been released yet due to an error... . Not sure why this wasn't done the first time I asked about it (day after I returned the car I called to see why I hadn't gotten my deposit refunded).Also wasn't told I had to refill the car before returning it. I was told upon dropping it off I would be charged $3 a liter to for them to refill it... so I just took the car over to the nearest gas station to do this myself. Would have been nice to know this in advance.Car we rented smelled like it had been smoked in previously otherwise car was clean and in decent shape aside from some dings on the body.We got a good rate from our mechanic shop for the rental so am thankful for that, otherwise wouldn't reccomend renting from here.

Horrible. Do not rent anything from here! We booked a van to move to pick up at 4 pm. We arrived early and they told us that the truck we wanted had a very badly damaged mirror. They had known this for 24 hours. They told us if we didn't want this unsafe vehicle to drive in that we could drive to Langford where another truck was ready at another location. It would have taken us another 30 minutes at least in rush hour to pick up this vehicle. We refused as we had movers waiting for us at our house on the clock! National refused to offer us any discount to appease us for this inconvenience. All they said was go to Langford on your dime and time. We said that was silly since we booked a truck that was to be ready! What is point of booking a reservation. As we pointed this all out to staff they said we were being difficult and they were going to cancel us and told us to go elsewhere! Imagine booking a truck that wasn't ready and damaged and then told we are being difficult! Service rep did not even ask us if we collected Air Miles and had to fix that after transaction was completed. Inspections are very funny as well. There was a layer of dust all over dash that had not been cleaned in months along with brakes that sang all the way over the Malahat! Truck was not even swept out from previous renter. Never never never again.

If I could rate 0 I would. I was having servicing done to my vehicle at Mitsubishi and they picked me up so I could rent a car while my vehicle was being serviced. I was having trouble with my credit card and couldn’t pay the $100 deposit on my card, I offered to pay debit or cash or my partners credit card and I was declined.I was not able to get a rental, I was given no other option or resolution other then to leave, without a way to get home. There was zero empathy or compassion, no attempt to resolve the issue, zero attempt to accommodate Me in this situation.My wonder is what do people do if they just don’t have a credit card, mine was not working - honest mishap- but what in gods name do people do if they don’t have a credit card?I left crying because I had no way to get home, it was embarrassing and horrible.I will not ever come back. I suggest you take your business elsewhere.

Worst experience with a rental car company. It was all arranged by my car dealership as a part of my warranty on a lease any time it’s in for service. So my walk around was at National but because of my dealership arrangement, it was returned at my service pick up. What a scam! It meant no return walk around- and an unauthorized charge of over $1000 for a small missing piece from the air conditioner. No customer service at all after the drop off- no call backs or responses to my emails. Just the invoice.My recommendation, do not rent from National and if you do, make sure the inspection includes the interior.

I thought I would share my recent experience that I had with National specifically this location. The agent that helped me was Ishaan, I can say enough about how comfortable and welcome he made me feel when I arrived. He understood exactly what my requirements were and come up with a great solution for me. I have phoned the office several times and the other staff that I have spoken to have all been very pleasant also. I highly recommend this office if you are looking to rental a great vehicle.
