We got a personal guided tour and they showed us how to use some of the tools. My kids aged 9 and 11 were curious and interested and asked many questions.

Don’t do it to yourselves people, call firstWe visited yesterday from Toronto and were told they were closed due to renovations and come back next Wednesday, although nothing indicated any of this on the website or at the siteSo they’re closed the Victoria Day weekend, great planning ??I’m a working artist and wanted only to paint in the heritage village and take photos, the entrance gate was open, so we went in but we were told in no uncertain terms to remove ourselves like school children by several people not even allowed to take a few quick pics to paint as we’d driven a long way to see it and there was no closed notice on the website, not our fault.I offered to pay but no dice. They could have made an allowance for this factor !!! I had an idea to donate work to the museum and town.Shame on you Port Perry, you are better than that, it’s a lovely friendly little town but obviously that’s not the case with the everyone especially your Museum employees or there boss !!!!!Use your common sense and make allowances sometimes !!!We’re disappointed and disgruntled my wife said they were being stupid and they were, I told them clearly that we only wanted to see outside of the heritage buildings not interested at all inside where there seemed to be only one door open for renovations and we said we had no intention of trying to go inside anyway. That’s what I like to paint heritage buildings outside.Anyway keep your precious heritage village I don’t want anything to do with it and incidentally my paintings are much better than the ones you have in the library exhibition now !!!

We drove 2 1/2 hours to visit this museum for part of my husband's birthday weekend. It said online that they were open but door was locked and when someone came to the door, she said they were rearranging displays. This was the second time that's happened!! UPDATE YOU WEBSITE!!

Visiting the buildings here felt like travelled through the time machine to the 1800's. Seeing the Blacksmith shop that's still functional. Woodright shop on ancient woodworking crafts. Beef ring in pre-refrigeration era. Lee House, Cabins, the head school and the church. Lots of antiques and history being preserved. Worth the visit.

Rarely open! How this place survives is beyond me! My opinion is don't waste your time or money... there are better places to visit in this amazing town!... I will update my review if and when I actually get to see this museum... ps. Went today when it said online that it was open
