Employees were so nice and gave an amazing tour before you go and essentially pick your own amethyst. Digging out a big piece would definitely take awhile and cost you probably 50-100$ but was a really nice hour or two to spend. Definitely sunscreen and bug spray is a must!

This was so interesting! We took the tour and our guide (owner) explained the mining operation and also spoke about the geology. There is an open area to pick raw amethyst which we did. Nice gift shop also with pieces they create. Well worth the rather wind-y drive. Easy parking even for RVs. Definitely recommend this!

Super great place and awesome staff! We stopped in about 45 min before closing and they were just as welcoming even with the little time we had. We had a brief but informative tour and learned some cool stuff about the amethyst. I wouldn't necessarily call it a mine for the tourists, it's more like amethyst collecting, but I personally really enjoyed that experience. Prices seemed fair for the collected minerals and the owners are very kind and flexible and they gave other great recommendations for nearby attractions. Lovely experience!

Very cool place. Biting Flys a bit of an issue. Not so much mining" your own amethyst. More like sifting through stuff they dump on the land. Still fun though and found a lot of cool stuff! Worth the trip."

What a great time with my kids! Fun history and nice tour. So fun to bring our own amethyst home ($5/lbs.). Awesome staff and nice showroom showcasing sculptures, polished stones, and jewelry, etc. Also, amazing view down the hill!

$10 admission. $5 for 1lbs of gem (0.5lbs in picture). Really fun date idea or day trip with the kids.

Cool quick tour. “Dig” through tailings/staged material to find and take home (for additional $$) your own amethysts. Drive in is well signed and there is one steep hill that I wouldn’t recommend a trailer on, but it could be done. Bathrooms are pit style and are cute and clean. Pet friendly in all areas!

Glad we visited the Amethyst Mine. It was very interesting learning about how amethyst is formed and mined. Lots of amethyst to dig around for from small to big pieces and you pay by the pound so you can take away as much as you want knowing how much it will cost. Lovely pieces available for purchase in the gift shop. Neat old pieces of machinery and trucks to see. Short well maintained gravel road to the mine and washrooms on site. Reasonable entrance fee of $10 each.

Made a stop on our cross Canada adventure and it did not disappoint. Tim led a wonderful tour. Very easy to understand and even kept my little ones engaged. Love that it is a family run, fully operational mine. Had a wonderful time 'mining' for our very own gems to take home & very reasonably priced - I could have spent the whole afternoon but the road was calling... Some tips to consider - the whole experience is outdoors so definitely dress for the weather and make sure to have water. An outhouse is available a very short walk from the main building - I don't remember it being accessible. Polished and jewelry pieces are available for purchase in the gift shop and garden pieces are laid out on tables outside if you're looking for a quick pick. Prices for your own finds are currently $4/pound.
