The food wait was long but we were warned when we walked in. We called first..they should have told us then. Had the steak and mushroom pie. It was OK. Top was slightly undercooked, lots of gravey. Asked for horseradish which improved it. Also served was the steak and Guinness pie, beef dip, and beef stuffed Yorkie. Food was typical pub fare. Bread puding. I've had better yorkies

Hostess asked us where we wanted to sit, we choose the outside patio as it was a great day. She said that there was no outside seating because of the reservations. My Wife persisted and we got outside seating. It was a great choice as the patio was pretty nice. Food was slow in coming, but there is a sign as you enter that the wait could be long as they were dealing with staff shortages! All in all, great atmosphere and we will for sure go back.

Amazing visit to this only slightly out of the way gem. Always love the food and service here. Today was my first experience with the fish and chip special. It was out of this world. The Caesars are also to die for!

This place is awesome. Hard working waitresses and the absolute best outdoor dining area that is totally dog friendly. Set on a ranch property and very unexpected. Wife had a Reuben sandwich that was great and I went with the fish and chip special which was a little bit too much batter but the cod inside was excellent. Great beer selection on tap as well. Mother in law had a chicken salad that was good according to her and rather big so went home with a doggy bag as well. Highly recommended for a good ole pub experiance.

I know, I said that I wasn't going to leave negative reviews, but I've been to Rocking Horse twice now, and both times left me feeling the same thing: regret. Since half-marks aren't an option, I've rounded up to three stars, but my genuine sentiment is slightly below 'it's ok'.The first time, I got the nachos, and there were a lot of cold chips with very sparse toppings; about a third of the toppings you'd expect for the amount of chips (and the price).We debated before going back, but wanted to give it another shot. After we got our drinks, we were told that the kitchen was under-staffed, and to expect a 45-min delay. We opted for simpler options; I ordered a beef dip, while my friend opted for a Reuben.When our food did arrive, the beef was very dry and tough. It tasted good with the jus, but it required a bit more effort than anticipated. I still devoured it, so there you go. The fries were also cool and hard, so I assume they'd been sitting around for a good long while. I didn't eat those.Service was fine. Not particularly enthusiastic, but considering the lack of staff on the floor and in the kitchen, I can imagine it was a stressful shift. We didn't really see much of our server throughout our visit, however.I really wanted to like this place; it's quaint, nestled in the middle of nowhere, and really cool looking. It's fine for drinks, I guess, but not much else.

If I could give more stars for service I would. Tabitha was our server. She was amazing. I can see why she is manager my first time there in years and going back again soon. Amazing food and really nice place.

Rocking Horse Pub
I really like The Rocking Horse Pub and always have. I went there for my first date with my partner we're still together and we still go back periodically. They have a great British pub style menu and a traditional Pub style menu and some good drinks. The decor is pretty cool and it's a definite place where I like to go back to. Sitting outside is lovely they have beautiful yards I wasn't out there today so I didn't get those pictures.

We have been waiting to try this pub out for some time. My boyfriend is British so we lean towards pubs with British fare. He had the cottage pie and I had the roast beef sandwich special. Our waitress was running and managed to give amazing service and made you feel like you were best friends! Definitely worth the drive and ferry from Gabriola where we live! I wish I caught our servers name as she made the experience even better.

My first time here tonight and I had such a phenomenal experience. Jamie was on point, quick with service and specials. We will be coming back again very soon.
