It gives me great pleasure to write this review for Michael and South Coast Sundecks. We just had a composite deck installed and we love it! In the briefest terms, Michael was very responsive, explained what he could do, gave a fair estimate, showed up on time, and did an excellent job.Taking these in turn, we were first struck by how responsive Michael was. Where other companies took several days to respond, Michael got back to us very soon after we reached out. We had a very helpful initial conversation about our needs and what he could do for us. I will note, to his credit, that he truly was interested in meeting our needs, and even discussed not installing a deck and simply refurbishing our old deck. There is integrity in that. He was very honest and full of information about composite decks and other options.The most important thing about Michael is that he showed up, on time, when he said he would. Our experience with contractors and builders (and I am sure many reading this can relate) is not great. We just accepted that builders not showing up on time, or simply not showing up, was the norm and not the exception. We were pleasantly surprised when Michael showed up exactly when he said he would, and did exactly what he said would.He arrived soon after we reached out and did a detailed assessment and provided us a quote with options. He did not give us the least expensive quote, but it was fair, and it was far from the most expensive quote. We discussed different options and discussed how to accommodate any surprises that he might encounter while doing work on the deck.He arrived soon after we signed the contract with a team of equally capable and respectful employees. Again, they showed up each day and worked hard and competently to complete our deck. As they were working with an existing structure, it was not without complications and wrinkles. Michael rolled with all of that and fixed what needed fixing. He is uncompromising in his integrity, attention to detail, and excellence. He could have cut corners… we would not have known… but he did not. Moreover, he gave generously of his time, and it did not result in any deviation in cost from the original contract. It was clear to us that he would not install a deck that he was not proud of.We are so happy with the result! Now 2 years into the pandemic and limited social interaction, we cannot wait to show off our deck and have our friends and family over.Michael is competent, professional, personable, and I recommend him for your project without reservation.

It was great working with Michael and his deck team. He was extremely knowledgable and always answered my calls or returned my calls quickly. My new deck looks amazing, and I’m looking forward to enjoying some sunset drinks on it! I’ve added a couple of pictures. 8 YEARS AGO we hired Michael to design and build our deck and porch along with a few other items on our house.We were pleased with his true dedication to quality design and build. He had some great ideas and built us an attractive and solid deck, which we loved 8 years ago.TODAY after lots of rain, snow and sun, after being sanded and stained many times, our deck is solid as ever. We still love our deck! We are confident that selecting Michael for the job was the right decision.Thank you Michael.

Worked with Michael over several months to finalize a design for a new deck. Throughout the process Michael was very accommodating and helpful through many design changes. The work was done in February and although the weather was terrible and it was like working in a swamp, Michael always showed up on time and completed the work on time. He was also very accommodating for interruptions for some plumbing work that had to be done between the removal of the old deck and the installation of the new deck.The work was done on time and on budget, which is rare these days, but most importantly the end product is outstanding. Quality workmanship that will likely outlast the house.I would recommend Michael for such projects without hesitation.

Michael and his crew did an awesome job dealing with a very challenging vinyl demolition followed by a new composite deck installation.Michael took the challenges in stride and proposed well thought out resolutions which his team executed well. We ended up with a great looking Timbertech composite deck at a fair price and in a timely manner. The site was cleaned up nicely and his communication was always timely and clear. We would highly recommend South Coast Sundecks if you’re looking for any kind of deck work.

Michael, Ken and crew replaced fibreglass decking with vinyl and installed new aluminum railings on both front and back decks at my home. They reinforced the deck and levelled it before applying the vinyl and even replaced some rotting stair treads. Michael has a lot of experience building decks. He made color suggestions, suggested frosted glass for privacy in one section on the back deck when I had initially thought wood - I'm so glad I went frosted glass for continuity of look. Super happy with how much better both decks look!

We had a great experience with Mike and his team! Mike was quick to respond, extremely knowledgeable and detail oriented. You can tell that he knows his stuff and truly understands how to design, reno and complete a job so it lasts! He was upfront about costs and potential issues that would likely be faced with my older deck. I would highly recommend South Coast Sundecks/Mike and the Tufdek product. Our old deck was rotting and we needed a repair and an extension. It was clear from the first discussions with Mike that he knows decks - he quickly saw the relevant design challenges and had ready solutions. He was forthright in his opinions regarding railing choices and privacy screens and the end result is a fabulous, study deck that we love.
