Brenda Martin was my early childhood teacher. A harsh woman with a penchant for discipline and manipulation. Heartbreaking that this has been going on for over 40 years.Only God knows the amount of lives her behavior has taken from his hands.

I love my school! It has great,loving,kind,and loyal teachers! I recommend this school❤️ Mrs.Martin can be harsh but she has changed alot! She only wants the best for the children and discipline is the best way.Ibe learned from experience.

The other night I had a nightmare where I was trapped here; the walls came down around us and we were all screaming. Probably a good metaphor for how I felt about attending the school and church in my youth. I woke up feeling like I needed to share my experience.Some highlights:I distinctly remember bringing a guest to VBS; the male teacher came out wearing a dress and encouraged the children to laugh at how silly he looked. He told us that this was how women looked when they wore pants.As I looked over at my guest’s skin-tight shorts, I felt ashamed that I had brought her here to be mocked and angry that the adults thought it was okay to do so.So many church services focused on how we were not giving enough (tithing). Watching families financially struggle and then be guilted into giving more than they can afford was really upsetting to see.I remember that day-old donuts and muffins were donated to the Sunday school program for the community children that would come as part of the church outreach. Many of whom were from low-income households and may have not gotten a breakfast. Well, it was determined that those children were taking “too many” and not leaving enough for the adults (whom they weren’t actually intended for). So the new rule was that only children accompanied by an adult could have a baked good. My little brother would have to sneak muffins to the children who arrived by bus. Absolutely shameful.As a spirited girl, I would climb trees at recess and be yelled at because it was not lady-like. I was made to climb down. My male peers were not asked to climb down.The school had us sign a contract that we would not wear pants (as girls) and we would not go to the movie theatres.I remember children crowding around a radio in a parent’s vehicle in the church parking lot listening as if they were doing something really bad. It all felt very alienating and weird to be so scared of “the world.”I have to say, I am shocked to see Mrs. Martin is still involved with the school as VP. When I was there, she used anger, fear and punishment to manage her classroom.In grade 5, I became depressed and started to have thoughts of suicide. I begged my parents to leave the school, and thankfully, we eventually did.The good: We met some wonderful families in the congregation. The church does seem to really welcome families and make you feel part of a community, which is likely why there are so many 5-star reviews here.If you can take away anything from my review: Stay away from the school. A lot of damage can be done attending 5 days/week 10 months per year.

My kids and I enjoyed the community festival very much last Saturday! There were more interesting activities than we had expected from the simple ADs. I was so glad to meet with many enthusiastic people.

Nice school. Teacher are great.

An amazing bible(KJV) believing Baptist church with a congregation who loves the Lord and shows Gods love! A pastor who preaches from the scriptures. Love visiting this church.

Excellent and very God fearing. Pr. Brett was there and he guided us and shared a lot of valuable details regarding the School and the Church.
