Amazing people that volunteered with this railway. From ticket collector to conductor. Loved the history and story behind it all. Totally amazed that each car had it's own history. Totally worth the time and distance to get there. Too bad we went on a public holiday....so only 1 restaurant opened in nearby town. So not much choice for food after the ride.

It's like jumping in a timer machine! Awesome experience, staff were extremely enthusiastic and kind. Highly recommend going. Get there at least 30+ mins early to buy your ticket if you don't have an advanced reservation.

Visited: 15Oct2022Booking: Booking in advance is recommended. Though some walk in tickets were also available.Parking: We parked in the municipal parking lot on Mill street West that was free for 2h. 2h were enough to complete the entire visit. Most visitors parked there.Experience: It was a beautiful experience of an old heritage railway along with scenic view of Beeton creek Valley. Boarding starts 10-15 min before the scheduled time and total around 50 min of train ride. We arrived an hour before and kept strolling at the station for pics and watching the place. The scenery might not be similar to a look out point with vivid bed of colours, so don't keep high expectations for the ultimate view. But it was a unique and beautiful view while riding an ancient railway car. In our car, the sound system wasn't very clear to understand the conductor. Washrooms were very neat and clean. Its very family friendly trip, therefore majority of the crowd was from families and senior citizens.Overall, it was a lovely experience. All the staff were extremely friendly and I want to appreciate and thank them for their time and energy for this volunteer work.I have attached some pics of the view (sitting towards the right side of the train) to give you an idea of the type of view.

What a fantastic train journey, though a short trip, only about 45 minutes! The conductor on board was hilarious and very informative! :) The coaches are very clean and the heritage, legacy touch could be see and felt. A nice attraction. My kids really enjoyed the ride! :)

Worth the money! We were yelled at when we were taking some pictures by the stationery train models by staff which was a bit insulting, but otherwise lovely experience. The train ride is well organized and memorable. The fact that it's run entirely by volunteers is really touching. The commentary on the drive is really useful to hear and keep you engaged in the experience.Much recommended for younger age groups.

Lovely train ride - approximately 50 minutes in length. Commentary from the conductor was amusing and very informative. Conductor came by at the end and was very kind to all the passengers. Vintage aesthetic and overall just a fun activity. Definitely recommend for train enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike.

Nice time riding on the train. Plenty of information given out on the 3 passenger cars as well as the locomotive. Unfortunately the steam engine was out for repairs so we had the diesel engine. Great scenery. It is all booked up for the remainder of the season so anyone wanting to go look into next year and book early

We took our 4 year old grand-daughter on July 2nd. It was a great outing. Brought back memories of my grandfather - a railway man (Southern Pacific RR) and my first train ride 64 years ago. I was 5. It was a thrill to listen to my granddaughter's comments as she took her first ride. The staff were great! I hope we always have wonderful people who give their time to allow us to relive moments of our history.

Nice experience! Run by volunteers. Great vibe. Train ride was around 45 mins total. Views were not that great but the tour guide did his best to make it informative and overall was a nice experience. Train was very nicely kept and clean. Our kids and parents really enjoyed this. Locomotive was 75 years old and still running great. Cars were nicely refurbished. Great to see the heritage.

And enjoyable ride with some great historical commentary. A great experience that takes you down what I would imagine is close to what train travel would be like in the golden years". The kids loved it!"
