Emporium Barbershop

After nearly 5 years as a loyal customer, Alex suspended my customer account for missing an appointment with Mathieu. It’s tremendously sad, as I’d been going every two weeks since 2017. After going in person to apologize to Mathieu, I later received a text message from him that I’d have to pay for the missed appointment. I immediately agreed and said I’d do so on my next visit. I didn’t hear anything further and assumed all was good. But then my recurring appointments were cancelled and my customer account suspended without notice. It’s odd because Mathieu later messaged claiming that he couldn’t see me due to the barbershop’s policy. But going to their website, it clearly says that customers will pay 50% of the missed appointment on their next visit. Nothing about being suspended as a customer after agreeing in writing to pay 100% on the next visit. The irony here is that Mathieu himself was 10 minutes late for our last appointment, having left to go run an errand and leaving the barbershop entirely. I didn’t bat an eyelash. I just said “it’s no problem”. Not to mention that I continued my loyalty despite their barbers turning over several times over the years. And this is how they apparently treat loyal customers. One missed appointment and you’re out.

Jolyane is a great barber, and just as good conversation. I’m a total convert and it feels great to finally have a trusted barbershop spot in my neighbourhood.

This is one of those places where a barber finished two weeks courses and feels like he is good enough to charge 50 bucks for a haircut with multiple defects.I had to come back the day after for a fix. When I came back and pointed out to all that mess, he didn’t feel like returning the money after all.Careless! Avoid this place if you need a good cut and a service!

Went for this first time today. Had my cut with Mathieu. Highly recommend! Super great atmosphere and service. Mathieu was one of the easiest barbers to chat with. Gave me one of my favorite cuts in years.
