New Town Bakery & Restaurant

I'm from Washington and ever since I was a kid my family have been driving up to Canada just to get Siopao (asado/bolabola) and Mami soup. Their recipe hasn't changed since. I like their new spot in Surrey better than the Chinatown spot.

** Cash Only **My childhood right here. Hands down the BEST siaopao ever. My family and I have been eating their Asado (My personal favorite) and Bola Bola siaopao for over 15 years alongside their sauce. Their baked goods also? Ugh just delicious!The quality & taste has never changed and it is an essential bakery to pop by at if you’re ever in the Surrey area.

Although the place is pretty run down and a bit of a greasy spoon the food is good and consistent and a good source for Chinese and Filipino pastries although they are not open on Wednesday’s and they only take cash, don’t expect anyone here to have a good command of the English language, service is relatively efficient but typically abrupt unless you speak Cantonese, that being said it’s usually worth the long lineups for the steamed buns, egg tarts, bolobou and BBQ buns. Dine in service is slow so I’ve learned take out really is the only way to go.

Wonderful place, but:This place brings back childhood memories and nostalgic food. This according to that basis is a fantastic place however if you are walking in cold with no memories of that type of food or surrounding then it may not work for you.If you do and the menu reminds you of your growing up and earlier years, then this is the best possible place to be. Each bite is pure happiness. The steamed buns are really spectacular, don't forget the special sweet sauce. Enjoy!

Late lunch with family! We had hototay soup; chicken mami (noodle soup); pancit bihon guisado (stirfry noodles); mushrooms with mixed veggies (dish comes with tofu but today they ran out); halo-halo (dessert).DINE INService 4/5 (tea was refilled), server brought us extra bowls and a serving spoon coz that was missingFlavours 4/5Speed of Food coming to the table 5/5The stirfry noodle was quite salty; both soups were fine but hototay had a nice depth of flavour. Family favorite for over 30 years! And I finally got to experience it for myself. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh—siopao, coconut buns, apple tarts and my favorite, the baked BBQ pork buns. YUMMM. Simple, functional location, with sweet staff and a constant flow of regulars. Line will be shorter at this location! CASH ONLY US & CANADIAN.

Their buns are oh so good!!". It's the way how the "Siopao" tasted back in the Philippines. My personal favorite: Bola2x and Asado. All the pastries are perfect. I also love the peanut palitaw here. The only downside for me so far is they only accept cash. I wish they would accept cards as I don't like handling cash during this pandemic. Their pastries are a bit pricy but well

Wasn't to sure what to think when we first pulled up, not the nicest place or area, but the food was actually very good. The dry garlic ribs is a must!!!! I have never had such good dry garlic ribs. The baked and steamed buns are very yummy! But my favourite is definitely the sweat sesame balls!! Sooooo good! Will definitely be going back to try more on either menu, would definitely recommend this place to friends and family! :)
