Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia

With regrets, unfortunately it was closed when we were in the area. I have heard wonderful things about the center and look forward to future visits.

This is a place one must visit a few times a year to learn, relearn, and to better ones understanding of NS's history.Start with the video and take in the Portia White exhibit. You will appreciate all the personal artifacts on display (check out the public library or nimbus publishing to get a copy of the books written about her). Next visit the 2 gallery rooms that introduce to the people who left their mark on NS. Then head out to the main lobby and take some time to read the banners, front and back, before you head upstairs.If you are into military history, or boxing, hockey and other sports, spend time learning more about William Hall, Buddy Daye, etc. Feel free to sit and read from the library on this floor too.This is not about being woke: this is about making sense of how one of the people of NS came to be, their accomplishments and how they continue make their mark.

An excellent tribute to the rich history of NS

Awesome spot. The perfect size for a museum and chock full of eye-opening exhibits. Friendly and helpful staff. Do not visit Halifax without checking out the BCCNS.

I really enjoyed the Cultural center. Highly recommend. I did have a suggestion to the worker about getting the information in braille or audio description for the visually impaired. Learned alot that I didn't know.

I loved the Center. I grew up in Cherrybrook and every time I come home I make it s point to go BBC. The artifacts and pictures get better every year!!

It was a comforting expérience, learning and hearing more about the history of black people in Halifax.

What an amazing experience visiting the BCC.I learned so much during my visit. I highly recommend a visit for everyone visiting the area.

Beautiful establishment! Very welcoming staff. Definitely a must see while visiting Halifax.
