Chop Steakhouse & Bar

Ok, Went for dinner there by myself.. Thought I would go out and have a nice Sunday dinner. First off the service was not bad, not great but not bad. The food on the other hand could have been a lot better. I had the French onion soup to start which tasted like gravy with onions added to it and covered with cheese.. I've had better at fast food restaurants. For dinner I chose the 14oz Smoked rib steak with rice and veg. The veg was good, unfortunately that was the only thing that was good. The rice was overdone and the steak, although cooked to my order, looked and tasted like it had been cooked a couple hours earlier and then warmed under the lights before service. It was not hot, barely warm. I'm not one to complain usually but with tip this meal cost me $55.00 and I went by myself.... I expect a lot more for my money than what I got.. Very disappointed.

Made a reservation for a large party and they accommodated us right away! Servers and staff were extremely friendly and helpful, food came in less than 30 min, even with a party of 10 and was delicious! Had a great experience!

Went with my girlfriend. We both had steaks, one New Yorker and one fillet. Both were tough, fillet a bit less so. My portion of veg was tiny. Would have expected a better quality steak from a steam house. Would not return for such high prices. Staff were lovely and the place was very nice.

We recieved a gift card and that is was what brought us to CHOP in Kelowna.The greeting at the door was great. We were a couple and were surprised to be seated at a booth that could have handled 8 comfortably - and the restaurant was empty!We placed our order with the waitress. I made a change from the mashed potatos" to rice upon this waitress's suggestion. My wife ordered their feature which was Lobster.Our waitress came back 5 minutes after we ordered to inform me that the fish that I had ordered was out of stock? - and asked if I like to order another kind of fish which I did. She came back again another 5 minutes later asking how I wanted my fish cooked? - (You would think that proper communications between the kitchen and the server would have saved her a lot of steps and me the extended wait time).When we finally recieved our orders - mine came with the potatos that I had changed to rice and my wife's lobster was under cooked. Very disappointing - Gift Card or not!I am not so sure that we will return and now understand why perhaps this restaurant had a lot of empty tables at "Prime Time on a Saturday Night".They have a lot of competition who all are looking for new customers. CHOP - you blew it with these "new customers"."

Stayed at the neighbouring Sandman and had dinner here twice. Both were very good experiences. Service was friendly, staff was attentive, and my meals were delicious. The yorkshire and prime appetizer was my highlight.

This was absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had. We went with a large group of people having made a reservation weeks in advance for a family get together. The service was deplorable. We arrived at 6:30 .. it took easily an hour for the server to actually take our dinner order and only then after we requested it. Then it took another hour for our dinners to arrive. Appetizers came out spottily with the first of nine arriving after 45 minutes and the balance came some 20 minutes later. Water was not provided until several requests were made. We provided our own dessert which management assured would be served, it was unceremoniously plunked on the table and we were left to our own devices to serve it. The server was clearly inept and management did nothing to ensure our dining experience was even remotely satisfactory. Management was aware of the service issue we were experiencing, hovering continuously but did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation .... Massive fail Chop.

The wait staff is friendly and efficient, but the cooks seem pretty amateur.I ordered a Starter Caesar Salad, Teriyaki Sirloin Steak, Medium, with Crab, and baked Potato.The salad was good, huge portion for a starter.The Steak came as a baseball cut, and I could tell from the firmness that it was well under, Rare/Medium Rare at most. I cut the steak in half to thoroughly display the raw center to the waitress, and question the decision to opt for a baseball cut for a medium steak, so they took it back to burn the outsides of the cut steak to bring it up to medium, rather than use an appropriate cut of meat. The outside was far too charred to eat. You could also hear the cook protest to the waitress that the rare baseball was originally cooked to medium, furthering my belief the cooks are not highly trained.The Crab was good, but the Clarified Butter tasted Burnt and had loads of crumbs in the bottom. When I asked why the clarified butter had dark stuff sitting at the bottom, I was told it was garlic, but shortly after came a way better tasting and clear butter, though they don't use warmers, just a remekin.The baked potato had the texture of yesterday's re-heat, but was okay, and the veg was good.The dinner and two beer, $60 + tip.Next time I feel like steak and crab in Kelowna, I think I'll head somewhere else.
