We made the mistake of taking our dog here. Needs a monthly prescription. Can buy it for half the price online but the Dr won't release the prescription. Says to keep buying from him or go to another vet. Won't let us have my dogs prescription. Unethical. I will never go here again.

They were able to get my sick pup in on short notice and on a treatment plan for recovery. Prices are in line with other reputable vet clinics I have been to (cheaper may not be better - you get what you pay for). Love how the staff cares for her like she was one of their own!

I take my 6 month old kitten to them, Dr. Nelson and his staff are extremely friendly and are always willing to answer any questions I may have. They take their time explaining and giving you a price sheet when you take your pet in to get spayed or neutered. By far the best vet clinic. Would definitely recommend them to others!

I had the most awful experience with this vet clinic. My 11 year old boxer had been struggling for months, coughing up clear froth, unable to breath laying down for more than 2 hours. We trialled antibiotics early on hoping it would be only a pneumonia. He only got worse. So we took our boxer back to the clinic only to be told that “other than the cough he looked perfectly healthy” despite losing 10lbs in 2 weeks. I was told that nothing could be done unless we paid for a $700 workup, including a cholesterol panel! A cholesterol panel!!!! What on earth would that have helped. I tried to go back and speak with the vet, he refused to talk to me. I left my number and never got called back. One week later I took my dog into a different vet clinic, we had an X-ray done and found he likely had lung cancer. He had stopped eating for 2 days by this point and was very lethargic. We ended up needing to put him down. All in all, Lawson Heights Vet clinic was horrible to deal with. They made a difficult process even more traumatic and hard. I would not take any pet to them.

The only place I trust with my dog and cat. Great service, very quick, and always willing to take the time to explain each medication/aftercare. Dr. Corey is the best vet in the city. Their vet techs are also professional and wonderful. You can really tell they love the animals they treat!!

Dr Nelson and the staff are great! My parents have been bringing their cats here for years, and I needed a new vet last year for my senior dachshund (and my less senior dachshund) and they’ve been nothing but amazing to deal with. Cannot recommend this office enough!Edit: My parents had issues with their previous vet always wanting to do unnecessary cleanings of teeth (the cats teeth were fine) and they actually care what your animal needs. I was going to a vet office that’s 5-10 mins west of town, and they wouldn’t help with my dog’s skin infection, gave him a week of antibiotics and then wanted to do a bunch of expensive tests. Dr. Nelson realized that he had a bad skin infection and needed longer term antibiotics and that was all he needed, he was back to his happy wiener dog self.I realize that different dr’s might see things differently but some places just seem to want to charge you as much for as many things as possible, that isn’t this clinic.

The couple of negative comments on here surprise me, I’ve had a totally positive experience with this vet clinic. The staff and vet are super professional and friendly, they genuinely love all the animals. I take my 13-year-old golden retriever here and I honestly do not want to take her to any other clinic in the city. In classic golden fashion her hips are going but since taking her to this clinic her mobility has improved. She also needed a pretty extensive dental surgery (18 teeth) and the staff looked after her amazingly, she barely noticed it. The vet was so accommodating and communicated everything super compassionately, contrary to what was listed below. It makes me wonder what the reviewer has left out in their description, like did they show up unannounced barking demands (pun intended)? They were very honest and did not push for any tests or procedures that were unnecessary. I’m confused by the reviewer below and their surprise that tests needed to be conducted in order to determine what the issue is with their dog. How would any clinic anywhere in the world discover lung cancer unless you pay for the tests? And sorry about your dog’s diagnosis but you literally then paid another clinic to conduct tests to find that out? Lawson Heights Animal Hospital is a great place! Take you pets there for friendly staff and professional medical care.

Can't speak on how service is because I just pick up pets prescription from here. But horrible wait times. Shortest amount of time I've had to wait outside to get a prescription was 20 minutes. Took me 45 minutes the other day to get in to just pick up some meds. Costs of the medication keeps rising everytime I pick them up too.

Appointment times mean nothing. This was the third and final time I showed up for our appointment on time…. 30 minutes later they finally called us in. They never tell you the price of anything until they WAY over charge you for the same shots you could have gotten anywhere else. They don’t allow you to be with your pet in the rooms. My dog was so uncomfortable being dragged into the back room by strangers. Understandably.I am so happy to switch to VCA. The prices are nearly a 25th percent cheaper. The staff allows you to be with your fur baby the whole time. They care and are so much faster that I can actually plan other appointments afterwards knowing they are punctual and I will not be with them for more than a hour just for second shots.I DO NOT recommend lawson animal hospital at all.

To say this vet office is disappointing is and understatement! The staff is very unfriendly and RUDE! they don’t show any type of concern or empathy or even compassion for you or your animal, this is the most uncaring practice I have ever come across! They don’t care about your concerns or feelings when it comes to your pets and they certainly don’t care about giving some extra TLC to high anxiety animals.I will not be returning here with my animals, and encourage those who are looking for a caring compassionate vet who actually listens to your concerns to seek it else where cause you won’t find it here! Absolutely disgusted with the treatment here.
