This place will add to the enjoyment of your stay in the area! It's a great spot with enough parking even for those that are hauling a trailer/boat.The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I got the big bear polish sandwich and it was delicious.Stop on your way to the cottage or order dinner to go.

My family and I just stopped here on the way home from our annual cottage vacation to paudash lake and seriously can’t say enough about it. The food is phenomenal-fresh and generous portions. The Americano was impressive and you’re doing it wrong if you don’t pair it with one of their tarts for dessert. Service couldn’t be kinder or more generous. Thank you Swiss bear! See you next year, and the next…and the next.

Swiss Bear Cafe Bistro & Express
An amazing place to visit. Friendly staff, clean environment and great food. We ordered the all day breakfast and to our surprise the waitress came out with mini pancakes as an appetizer. When our meal arrived it was more than we bargained for. There was an apple bean dip for the potatoes that was mouth watering. After we finished our meal we were given a free dessert tart with fresh fruit. It was amazing. Would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Great food. We had a family lunch so I managed to taste quite a selection from everyone’s plate. Schnitzel on a bun was great and came with a potato pancake thing which I liked. Others had pancakes and French toast. Both were really nice. The butter tarts are to die for and are a must takeaway for a treat later and the day.

Have been here a handful times and have loved it each time! The owners are so kind, and thoroughly make sure you're happy with what you receive. The wait time is never too long, and their food is always so good. As they are a family run business you can tell a lot of effort goes in to what they do, and they always go the extra mile. If you haven't tried their tarts yet, just know that's a must (the raspberry peach and apple tarts are personally my favorites! Raspberry peach seen in the photo below). Next time you're in Apsley, I would definitely recommend making a trip out to the Swiss Bear :)

Delicious food; friendly staff...Seems like a family business. Since the beginning of covid, they only have the express (a.k.a takeout) option. There are picnic tables outside & plenty of parking spots.Unfortunately there is no washroom since there is no dine-in

Service, food, building, and overall experience are 5 stars. Highly recommend a stop here.The portion size is large and reflected in the menu, but we'll worth it as the schnitzel and accompanying sides are delicious. Service was consistent and appropriate, waitress was warm and patient, willing to help us with our first visit. The complimentary tarts on a first visit are superbly served and provide a delicious conclusion to the meal.Dont forget to buy a tart for the drive home.

This is the perfect stop for lunch on the way to/from the cottage. Schnitzels are out of this world! Top tip - call and order ahead as everything is cooked fresh. Photo is of a little bear (one schnitzel only) sandwich.

We love it. Their poutines and fish and chips are extremely overwhelming. The batter of the fish as well as the gravy for the poutine are so good. Reasonable price comes along with a good portion. $6.65 for a small poutine, I mean I couldn’t even finish it.Lovely cashier which I believe she is also an owner of the place. Great service, amazing food experience in just local family restaurant.Definitely coming back next time when we visit Bancroft or Algonquin Park.
