I went to see him about a foot injury in 2016. He sent me for an ultrasound and X-ray, when the results came back he told me there was nothing wrong other then swelling. He gave me pain killers, told me to ice it and told me that I didn’t need physio. I strongly suggested that I should wear an air cast and rest for a few weeks but he refused. The pain continued so after a month I saw him again. Once again he told me nothing was wrong and that I now should just go run & play sports (soccer - which I play regularly) because if I didn’t it wouldn’t function properly again. He sent me for a cortisone shot on my foot but the pain continued and got worse so after another month I saw him again. For the 3rd time I asked him to please send me for an MRI but he still refused because he said nothing was wrong. I insisted and had to force him to send me. He finally agreed and referred me for an MRI. I waited a year for the MRI with the pain consistent for the whole time which in turn had me needing pain killers regularly. When the results came back it showed bruising on the bone under my big toe. I asked him what to do at that point and he said if I wanted I could wear an air cast or walk with crutches for a month (which is exactly what I had originally asked for 2 years previously when the injury happened) so I got frustrated and talked with other doctors and the consensus was that it wouldn’t help after 2 years after the initial injury. Now 4 years later the pain is still there and I struggle with range motion.3 years after the injury I got into conversation with a lady I was buying a table off of and she was struggling herself with pain from an injury. I told her my story and sure enough we both had Dr. Harton. The poor lady was in more pain after seeing him then before.I’m sure if there are two of us that have had an experience like this then there’s definitely more. Do not trust him!(Also he’s absolutely rude!)

Excellent surgeon! He is very direct but an excellent doctor. Very kind but isn’t going to sugar coat anything. My surgery was very good. My incision was very long but I have hardly any scarring and absolutely no problems. I would absolutely recommend him! Thank you Dr. Harton.

Dr. Francois Harton is more than a surgeon, he’s more like an artist!A year and a half ago he did a ligament repair and ankle clean up on my right foot after decades of injuries and sprains. I healed quickly with less pain than ever and near 100% mobility in my foot. I just had a more evasive surgery on my left foot a couple days ago and have the same, if not more confidence in this one going the same. It’s not just him, but the entire staff I’ve dealt with have been amazing. Danielle and Jessica take care of all the back end stuff that I’m not good with and guide me along patiently. Can’t really speak nor relate to some of the negative reviews, but from my experience, it’s beyond expectation.

Honestly, I was a little wary of my appointment with Dr. Harton after reading the reviews. However, I have to say he was absolutely outstanding. He listened to my concerns. He asked questions. He checked my records. He did a physical exam. We chatted about hobbies and activities. He can schedule my surgery for my neuroma quickly. We even talked about other therapies for neuromas. It is very helpful that he has had a neuroma and completely understands what it is like to live with it. He did not sugar coat the end result. It won't be perfect but it will be better than living in constant pain. I would highly recommend him and am so happy that I was referred to him.

I initially saw Dr. Harton for bilateral Haglunds Deformity in Feb of 2019. I had surgery for the right side in Nov 2019. If you want someone to coddle you & hold your hand & tell you it's going to be easy, this isn't your guy... BUT if you want someone who absolutely loves what they do & is a Picasso in his field, Dr. Harton is your go to guy. Yes, I had to research some stuff to find out for myself, but as a surgeon his work was impeccable. I will never forget the look of pride on his face when he saw my post op x-ray in Jan. Can't wait to get the left one done!

Professional & supportive towards the needs of the patient. He really listens to the concerns I had concerning my issues with my feet. Dr. Harton did everything that was required. He examed me ND looked at my feet carefully. Now surgery is coming up this Feb. 2023.

Dr. Harton has been my foot specialist since Jan 2017. He is also the doctor my elderly mother goes to see on a regular basis. We both did a lot of research to find a great doctor who knew his stuff. We both literally asked several physiotherapists, nurses, several other doctors that we see and every single one of them told us Dr. Harton is one of if not ‘the’ best podiatrist in Calgary. Now that is some pretty big shoes to fill. Well it’s now Oct, 2021 and we still see him for our foot health care.My mother has chronic problems with her feet and she is diabetic, so must be very careful. A few years ago she got an infection in one of her toes and for some reason she just went to the family doctor instead. The infection got worse and it resulted in her going into emergency. This ultimately led to having her toe amputated. The lesson here is that when she eventually did see Dr. Harton; she found out if she saw him first, he would have been able to save her toe. This story directly enforces my comments below.Over my life, I have had more then my share of injuries and consequently being treated by various doctors. Two lessons I have learned in these years. 1- get a referral to a specialist “every time” you get injured in a specific part of your body when you know something is wrong. Your family doctor is a generalist, so seek a professional in their field of medicine. 2- any time anyone want to refer you to another doctor you “MUST” and “ALWAYS” get them vetted and research their background, level of care and any red flags that pop up. Any doctor you see who gives you a referral will 95% of the time just pick a random name from a list. Your family doctor “does not vet any referrals” they give you, that’s all on you.In conclusion, we have found Dr. Harton to be honest, sincere, knowledgeable, offers excellent quality of care, very meticulous with his performance of duties (surgeries, wound care, etc.), he always listens to your concerns and willing to discuss diagnostic and treatment options. He is very straight to the point and as such, is very direct. Dr. Harton does not ‘beat around the bush’, tells jokes, or pulls a bunny out of a hat for you.I personally choose to only see doctors who are professional, experts in their field, and direct in their communication to me. I don’t have time or any desire to have my time or theirs wasted with fluff or anything else not medically relevant to my health care needs. Dr. Harton does this to 110% of the high expectations I have in any doctor I see.In response to several reviews that saying he is rude, has poor bedside manners, bla bla bla. You need to realize something; it is not his job to give you a hug and make you feel good, nor should that be his job. His job is to treat your medical issues in a professional, timely, and precise manor. Dr. Harton does “not” hold your hand, coddle you, or go out of his way to make you feel better and I respect him a lot more then any doctor who does instead of spending that time to treat my injury. So yea, he doesn’t tell jokes, but he will give you the best medical diagnoses and treatment available. He provides you with 100% of his attention while you see him, all while juggling the hundreds of other patients he cares for.==========================Simply put, you want the best podiatrist in Calgary, go see Dr. Harton. If you want to hear jokes or feel warm and fuzzy; go buy a dog, see a therapist or get a hug from your mother.==========================

I had a referral to Dr Harton for foot surgery, he determined the majority of the pain I was experiencing was due to my spine and recommended a course of treatment to my family doctor that has provided much needed relief. Neither my family doctor nor referring podiatrist made this connection and foot surgery is not yet needed due to this.

I was referred to Dr Harton in the summer of 2018 to help with foot pain, during the initial consultation he was very thorough and suggested Cheilectomy procedure. He successfully performed the surgery in early October. I found Dr Harton and his staff to be very caring and i would happily see him again if required and recommend to others.
