The Green Store

Check the dates on EVERYTHING before you buy! I enjoy this store; however I do find severely expired products to be quite overpriced. In the years I’ve visited, it seems that things aren’t as positive as they once were.Food items with the tendency to go rancid (especially at room temperature where they are stored in this store) like nut butters etc. Shouldn’t be priced more than $1. There were several products I looked at from 2015/2016. I would say 50% of what I purchased isn’t useable due to the dryness/over-expired smell and taste. I took the risk hoping it may be a different result.Unfortunately I didn’t take photos of all that I disposed of. There were tons of supplements on the shelves that were a couple of years too old, such as probiotics that have a very delicate shelf-life. Certain herbs and such wouldn’t be as delicate after expiration.I understand the goals of providing lower cost healthy and organic items, but the “sale prices” of some of the 2+ year old food items were still overpriced or at par with some things you can buy on sale in a grocery or health food store.I think the risk versus benefit is not worth it for at least half the items in the store. Organic food in particular doesn’t contain the same kinds of preservatives that processed foods do. The nutritional benefits depreciate over time, faster than processed food.In summary, shop at your own risk, KNOW your prices, and look at ALL expiration dates. Staff is always helpful, the prices are great. I love coming in and seeing what is new .

Daily deals here as they liquidate some items that are just past their best before date. Goto superette on Albert and Milton for better deals.

Very good prices for products that r past their expiry date. Grocery products were good quality. Love that they have samples of potato chip flavours

Eclectic, alternative grocery store with lots of unusual selection and pretty sweet deals! Some products are expired and the store is a bit disorganized, but the staff is helpful and friendly.
