Patterson's General Store

Old musty dusty place. Little variety. Very run down. Rude customer service one of my first experiences. The next visit I did not find it very pleasant, it needs a good scrub down to take care of the dust and moldy/musty smell. Definitely needs some TLC, maybe a cape breton or beach theme with nice unique decor and fresh paint and new floors/shelves. The owner reminded me of Ursula from little Mermaid I received a vibe I cant explain. I wouldn't suggest coming back to this store for my business unless they can figure out a better marketing strategy and better way to approach customers that would attract good business that the locals and potential customers would be interested in. Ask locals for suggestions, get more involved with community and crafters. Maybe start up a late night pizza/take out on certain nights and 50/50s and a community page that is very active to attract business. This business should definitely be more open minded to opportunities and adjust their approach to new customers and locals.As a local I highly suggest anyone should keep driving down to Mabou turn off to Brooke Village to a small grocery store. I highly recommend Brooke Village for all the variety and eco friendly options like bringing your laundry detergent bottle and have it refilled. You can suggest certain items and spices you are interested in. They have a great variety of other merchandise/tool's and very helpful service.
