MEC North Vancouver

My visit to MEC North Vancouver was a complete disaster, and I feel compelled to share my grievances. Despite boasting about their flawless policies, the reality was far from it. The customer service representatives were incredibly incompetent, providing no assistance or knowledge. Their policies were inconsistent and poorly executed, leaving me frustrated and dissatisfied. The lack of accountability and dismissive attitudes from the staff were unacceptable. The return and exchange process were needlessly complicated, going against MEC's supposed commitment to customer satisfaction. I strongly advise against visiting MEC North Vancouver and suggest exploring other outdoor retailers that value their customers.

Was back in a MEC after probably 15 years! As exciting as it was years ago. I didn’t buy anything as they didn’t have the shoes I wanted in my size, but they have a good collection of lots of things you didn’t know you needed for your camping/sporting by trips. Their online store is way more complete, at least as far as shoes and boots are concerned but I would make a point of visiting the store every few months just to discover new things!

Wow. What a great place to shop at today. Picked up an online purchase (flippers), and got a pair of shoes I wasn’t even thinking of buying today but had a great experience at the shoe section w the guys there. The shoe I liked was actually on sale too! Also, picked up a dry bag for my trip based on the young guy’s suggestion, when I asked him about these. Reminded me of the MEC I bought my aqua shoes & backpacking bags from years ago. Keep up the great work. Nice store. They have everything here.

I liked this store, had very good experience at here.Lots of outdoor gears, basically covered all the outdoor sports. Every few feet/ sections have a stuff to serve/ help.I found all the gears/ accessories which I was looking, one store covers all.Definitely will visit again for more gears.

Great selection, lots of parking, friendly staff, were very accommodating with making a return on a pair of hiking shoes that were very uncomfortable on a trail, which I appreciated. I've visited first thing in the morning and appreciate that they open right at the listed time for a last minute tent I needed to buy for a trip.

Unfortunate experience at this store many, many times, customer service is very disappointing. I just finished waiting for a staff member for 20+ min for help on getting a rope (off the wall) and checking inventory for a size medium harness. I asked two different staff members who said they didn't work in the climb department and said they would find someone who could help (nobody came). After waiting for sometime I just decided to leave without any gear. This scenario has played out several times, no staff and no attention or help when needed. I always feel invisible and ignored while shopping here.The selection is adequate at this store and the staff I do interact with are nice but sometimes cannot address my question.Valhalla and climb on in Squamish has provided in depth, fast service and goes beyond my expectations in customer service, product knowledge, and selection- I wish MEC could do the same. I will be using these competitors going forward for my outdoor needs.

However, I was taken aback when Katy insisted on including the shipping price in the comparison, despite my understanding that MEC's policy did not require it. This sudden change in their approach felt inconsistent and left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer.Furthermore, to my surprise and discomfort, Katy took my phone and examined it on her till for an extended period. While she claimed it was necessary to proceed with the transaction, I couldn't help but question the legitimacy of her actions. It would have been more appropriate for her to utilize the store's computer for such verification, as it raised concerns about the handling of customers' personal devices and respect for their privacy.In reflecting on these experiences, I am genuinely disappointed by the decline in customer service standards at MEC. The inconsistent application of their price match policy, particularly regarding the inclusion of shipping costs, has left me feeling uncertain about their commitment to fairness and transparency. Additionally, the invasion of my privacy by inspecting my phone on her personal till further eroded my trust in the store and their respect for customer boundaries.Compounding my concerns, I recently became aware of a distressing viral video that depicted a customer being subjected to physical harm by MEC security personnel. This incident, which garnered significant attention online, has cast a shadow on the store's reputation and raised serious doubts about their commitment to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers.Regrettably, based on these troubling experiences, I am compelled to reconsider my future patronage of MEC. I find it difficult to confidently recommend the store to others, as my recent encounters have highlighted significant inconsistencies and concerns that should be promptly addressed. It is imperative for MEC to reevaluate and clarify their price match policy, ensuring consistency and transparency for customers. Additionally, a thorough review of their privacy practices and respectful handling of customers' personal devices is crucial to restoring trust and confidence among patrons.In conclusion, my experience at MEC has left me deeply disappointed and disheartened. I sincerely hope that MEC takes these concerns seriously, takes immediate steps to rectify their inconsistencies in the price match policy, and prioritizes customer satisfaction and privacy. -1 star cz of tiny parking considering loads of people come and go. Also the dog park is also using their parking space. That's probably the bigger problem.They have way markers and sanitation area but no one follows them apparently. I had to dodge loads of people who don't have masks and not maintaining social distance. And they are starting to shout too like spit coming out. So I might not come here again just bec of the decorum of the people who go into this establishment.Staff were very helpful but they are very busy all the time will massive people coming in and out. They only have a few stuff cz their place is smaller than MEC Vancouver which has 2 stories.Not a lot of options but you will find what you need and not want. Better to always look online and call before going there. It's waaaay too crowded. Stocks from Van can always be delivered to NVan store.

Exceptional service at MEC! A saleswoman went above and beyond to assist us in finding the perfect backpack. After four visits to other stores, we finally found the help we needed. The company should pay such a salesperson in gold!Thanks!
