Came in to try. Disappointed. Chicken tasted just of oil. No flavour!!!! It’s literally chicken thigh that’s flattened to create the illusion that’s it’s a huge piece of meat. But $11 for a piece of oily fried chicken.... no bueno. They served it to me in a plastic bag too. Why? Extra fee for a plate?? There were a few international students scrolling on their phones... I really don’t understand the appeal of this place. It’s supposed to be Taiwanese. Perhaps lost in translation.

Wanted to try something new while I was downtown in my office.Found this chicken place online. It's on Granville Street, across from Holt Refrew. It's a small place but bright and nice open concept. Lots of choices for food so ordered the Korean Large Fried Chicken, Rose Lychee drink and custard fried buns(3).The chicken was good. It was large and tasty. Wasnt oily loke some other post suggested. Could have used more sauce on the chicken but consideri g Im in the office with dress shirt on...maybe good that it wasnt loaded with sauce.Drink was excellent and the buns didn't last long with my co-workers. You get 3 little buns with each order. I ordered 2 of the custard.Definite spot to try if your downtown.

Being from Taiwan myself, this is a nostalgic food for me.Been here 3 times, first was couple years ago during pandemic, sadly their quality seemed to have gone downhill, just doesn’t taste quite the same.Taste 0.5/1*As mentioned above, quality seem to have gone downhill, backed by lack of customers nowValue 0.5/1*Even on special, $10 for a piece of chicken breast is a bit high, not to mention regular priceService 1/1*Fast and friendlyCleanliness 1/1*No complaintsOverall/Revisit 0.5/1*Would revisit when feeling homesickPaying for ambience?NOAbove and beyond? 0/+1*NO

Taiwanese fried chicken breast, nothing really beyond what the other places offer, same salty taste and MSG laced flavorings. No big distinguishing features beyond any other places offering the same. Seems a little pricier for the sake of being new and on Granville.

What a joke. The “large” piece of food was 60% bone, and 20% overcooked breading. There was nearly no meat on, it just tasted like burnt deep fried nothing…The price is straight up offensive for what’s given. I couldn’t be less impressed with this terrible food.

Finally i got the chance to visit this spot since the quarantine. I had been wondering what the line was about from time to time when passing by. The food itself is satisfactory. I did not suffer from long waiting time which is predictable during such. I ordered original fried chicken with plum powder., which I assume would be the signature item. The bone-in piece is enormous, I am already full with half left. I believe it is a grab-eat style of food as it was first created in Taiwan. But truly, I wish I had a bigger mouth so I did not have to eat in sunlight like a caveman. However, it is the beauty, int it? Getting you fingers and mouth messy. Anyways, it is a good casual place for some decent chicken. I will recommend and make another visit soon.

Costs you $3.80 per chicken wing, and the wings are so smallto reply to the owner, my uber eats pick up bill was $7.59 after tax for 2 pieces chicken wings. Why would i lie? I was expecting something much larger for that price, especially because large" is in the company's name."

First time tried hot star in Taiwan and been craving it since then. We are so lucky to have hot star in Vancouver. Even though price is way expensive than Taiwan but the chicken still taste the same way. I tried the chicken with cheese and it taste really good. Highly recommend their chicken!

DISGUSTING ! ! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ! !Popcorn chicken combo.1 Fried chicken cutletPresented on a plasic airplane dinner tray. The popcorn chicken was cooked in old black oil and was barely edible. Lots of MSG.Chicken cutlet was fried in dirty black oil and way too much MSGThe seaweed tasted like gasoline and bleach and the potatoe salad was barely edible slurry of starch powder. The 3 spring rolls.... a weird sour chemical taste again. Highly processed and inside was a slurry of only god knows. The items that are popular like the chicken cutlet with cheese is always sold as it seems they dont make many and whats left over is below average.Save your body from highly processed trash food that tasted like bleach and gasoline and go somewhere else. Airplane food tastes better than this trash. Trust me.

Honestly mediocre chicken at too high a price. I get your rents probably are insane but almost $25 for three pieces of chicken fries and a drink ... It's gotta wow me to make it that worthwhile. It didn't.
