I am a first time customer and have received excellent service and advice. Unlike many opticians, I was able to use an existing prescription and frames without pressure to have a new eye test and purchase new frames.Mr Maguire was extremely helpful in guiding me through the many options for lens tints.All staff were personable and friendly. We have purchased many quality designer frames and lenses from Kaltenbock; our neighborhood optician. Ali is the owner and he has a phenomenal eye for eyewear and for knowing precisely what looks good on you. As well, their in house optometrist is top notch and very thorough. My wife and I have been asked many times by friends and strangers who, after complimenting us, want to know where we purchased our eyeglasses. In my opinion, Kaltenbock, located in the building on the northeast corner of St. Clair Avenue and Yonge Street, is the only place to go in Toronto for unique, quality, fashionable, and sometimes one of a kind eyewear. Today we each purchased very stylish prescription sunglasses. We cannot wait to receive them. Ali travels all over the world so he can stock unique, high quality frames. Way to go Ali!! Went here for an eye exam and contact lens fitting after being referred by a local business. The location itself is conveniently located right at St. Clair station and is itself beautifully laid out. The atmosphere inside is very friendly - I was having a hard day when I went in and both Dr. Kumar (who performed the eye exam) and Ali, who discussed with me my new glasses/prescription and contact lenses left me howling with laughter.They show that positive customer service and a thorough and professional exam can co-exist even in today's world. Dr. Kumar was VERY thorough, as was Ali, and both took time to answer my many questions (and I had a lot) to make sure I was fully aware of how to take care of my eyes and glasses.Dr. Kumar even offered advice about something I had never heard before: a 20/20 rule - for my condition, it is best to look away from the computer screen after 20 minutes to an object 20 feet away to reduce strain on my eyes.As to punctuality, Dr. Kumar opened her door to me EXACTLY at 3 pm when my appointment was scheduled. No extra waiting time, and I felt my time was well respected. As I sat in the waiting area (I arrived 30 minutes early), I saw loads of celebratory accredations and congratulations from government figures, including our former mayor, hanging on the wall - celebrating the success of Kaltenbock Opticians. I also read that they have long been recognized as one of Toronto's top opticians, and I can clearly see why.I am VERY impressed with this location, and they absolutely live up to their reputation, both with clientele and government, and also with the kind words of local businesses in the area who highly recommended this clinic to me. I will now, in turn, recommend this clinic as well to anyone seeking professionalism, courtesy to individual needs, professionalism and thoroughness, easy access, and prices far more reasonable than many, less accredited clinics.Thank you to everyone at Kaltenbock Opticians for making my visit seamless, informative and a pleasure, including the very helpful Maine at the front desk, who took time to answer more of my questions and helped me understand the process.You are all appreciated!

Fantastic service and selection of frames. The team at Kaltenbock handles all of the lens work in house which means speedy turnarounds.

Could not recommend this excellent optician in a market of mediocre offerings and questionable practices. Kaltenbock carry a carefully curated selection of brilliant frames and very good prices on top of the line lenses. But it was the honest care and attention that really set them apart. Purchasing new glasses is a personal experience. Kaltenbock went far beyond to ensure that everything was perfect - the service was truly outstanding. And obviously it goes without saying, the glasses are fabulous.

One of the handles on my eyeglasses had fell off, and the optometrist kindly re-assembled them for no charge. I simply want to say thank you for the quick service.

Kaltenbock carries a massive collection of high-quality designer brands for prescription glasses, including LINDBERG and masunaga. Ali is the owner of the store. He is definitely the best in the city. He is so knowledgeable and has an excellent taste to help me pick the glasses that best fit my needs. I have very sensitive eyes and work long hours. Sometimes I would have a bad headache after wearing the glasses for long hours. So I’m very particular in terms of picking new glasses. Ali helped me find the light-weighted and stylish frame and got the thinnest lenses to reduce the total weight/blue light. Also he was so patient to help me adjust the glasses frame when it got bent accidentally after I had it after a year and offered his help whenever I needed an adjustment. I really appreciate Ali’s professionalism and generous help. Highly recommend this store to whoever in need of best quality glasses!

Worst store, worst customer service ever. Showed up on Black Friday, no sales. Asked the sales representative if they had any deals he just replied coldly “No”. We were interested in a pair of glasses in the cabinet but no one offered to assist us.
