I couldn't believe that when I ordered the avocado toast that the bread it was served on was the thin side bread that came with other orders. Also the avocado was not fresh and seemed to come from a container.

This little gem is a beautiful place to go eat some fresh food and drink some wonderful coffee ☕️ we really enjoyed it time here surrounded by bright displays of art and photography by local photographers and artists. The place had a warming feel to it and the staff serving was exceptional and she tended to our every need with a smile. The food was hot and cooked fresh (with meat cooked to taste) and the fries, I’d never tried anything quite like these fries. I’m coming back to Canada from the up and will definitely be coming back to see you soon. 5* for sure. Head over to this lovely shop

Love the concept, the ambiance is very cool. The staff is very kind and thoughtful. Food was good but something was missing in their hollandaise sauce for my egg bennett, not sure what it was, other then that we had a good experience.P.s. if you are going on Saturday or Sunday, they are very busy as they prioritize reservations, so make sure you reserve a table before going.

The oat milk latte was fabulous! The Eggs Florentine was quite bland, I had to salt it twice, almost as if there was mozzarella on top rather than hollandaise. Also, as there is no carpet nor many (if any) wall hangings, there is nothing to absorb the sound, it was a challenge to have a conversation. Cute tea lights!

Food was excellent, but service was lacking. I found a piece of plastic in my food (luckily didn't break a tooth!) and the server was indifferent. No apology and not even a discount on my meal.

I have not done brunch in years so when my partner suggested it I was excited to go. We wanted to try a new place so after a search we decided to try The Porch Light. The short version is that my first brunch experience in years was a complete disappointment which is very unfortunate.I ordered the Eggs Benny not wanting to take any risks because what can possibly go wrong with an Eggs Benedict... Apparently a lot. I started with the salad and first thing I noticed was a lack of flavor. Maybe I just picked a leaf without dressing so I took another bite and another but same thing. That's strike 1. Then I proceeded to cut into the side of my Eggs Benedict and I noticed no runny yolk oozing out. Maybe I cut too much to the side so I cut it right down the middle... Not a drop of yolk. The egg was nearly fully cooked with the bare minimum of yolk that was still slightly uncooked. I cut into the second one and while it was slightly better than the first, it was also almost completely cooked through as well. Not a single drop of yolk touched my plate. That's strike 2. I also want to note that 1 of 2 eggs in my partner's meal was runny so I don't believe it was supposed to be cooked through.I was incredibly disappointed at this point but was holding out hope that the taste would redeem this whole experience. Nope didn't happen. The hollandaise sauce was bland to the point where it felt like there was no sauce at all. Me and my partner did taste a subtle sour flavor on the eggs which we did not like. When we weren't tasting the sourness the egg whites didn't taste very pleasant either. I love eggs and have no issues with the taste of the egg whites so it was weird that I felt this way. Strike 3. The only decent part of the meal were the home fries which were a bit crispy on the outside but even then they were not anything special.Service here was acceptable. The folks here were very friendly and it was busy when we arrived. Maybe it was due to that reason that once our orders were taken it was hard to get anyone's attention for some condiments. When we finally flagged someone down they brought just single a cup of ketchup which we had to share between the two of us. I saw several other tables with squeeze bottles of ketchup so that didn't help with the experience either. The establishment was bright and clean with a good amount of seating. As mentioned it was very busy when we arrived so we were seated near the back of the restaurant which was a lot darker but otherwise was comfortable.I hate to give bad reviews but this experience just left me with such a bad taste in my mouth (figuratively and literally). We were both so unsatisfied with our meals that I actually looked up other brunch places and was this close to actually doing another brunch to get my fix. After this experience I definitely won't be back and do not recommend this place.

Mothers’ Day, brunch with my daughter. I ordered the Avocado Toast with eggs and pea shuts ( sic ). Most disappointing dish ever - a smear of what appeared to be guacamole on the toast, a scattering of mesclun mix on that and then topped with two over easy eggs. No pea shoots in sight, no expected fresh avocado; eggs at least were runny. Presentation left a lot to be desired - no garnish, just two eggs on toast. Bland both in appearance and taste, certainly no resemblance to the photo on the website. Mimosa was passable.

Friendly service and really attentive. The atmosphere is clam and relax. It is really good place for weekend brunch. The egg Benny is good portion but the sauce is sour side.

The Porch Light is another restaurant loved by the community as it seems to be very popular. Whoever I asked about it seemed to have a favourite dish. I went for brunch and I ordered the avocado toast with an egg on top and peameal bacon on the side. It was good, you know... just exactly what it was supposed to be - nothing more, nothing less. I have yet to find the perfect avocado toast but if I could imagine what that would be, I would want avocado to be seasoned a bit - perhaps sprinkled with chunks of truffle salt and a pinch of poblano flakes for smokiness and thinly sliced jalapeños. Does this exist? Not sure but that's not what I got here. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal which is a good sign. I would go again and definitely try one of the fan favs, which I have been told is the gnocchi!
