If you see in a china restaurant more than 3/4 Chinese people, than this is a good sign! It was amazing! One of our best traditional china restaurants that we ever visited. We tried a lot, and I need to say, that all dishes were delicious! One of the best places for Chinese food in Vancouver.

They have special and unique dim sum dishes that are rarely seen in most restaurants. Parking is free if you are lucky enough to be able to find a spot in their own parking lot. However, service is just fair.

Bought a takeout barbecue pork and chicken rice for lunch for ard $18 or $21.Barbecue pork tastes like dried pork(la rou/臘肉) and chicken were not cooked through and shined weird color. No ginger scallion sauce too.My worst rice ever tried in Vancouver. For $5 less i can get a decent rice from East 1st St. Not recommended.

Deep Fried Shrimp Toast was quite a game changer for me.Service: GoodParking: Paid parking on the streetLocation: 955 W Broadway, Vancouver

Our dinner here started with what most people came here for - Dungeness crab (salt and pepper preparation of course). It was as good as we had hoped for, but then the dishes kept coming, and our minds kept getting blown. First was their signature crispy chicken stuffed with sticky rice(窩燒糯米雞), which came in nicely cropped rectangular pieces resembling bite size sandwiches. Once I stuffed one in my mouth, the crispy skins on both sides were the first revelation. Next was the umami flavored sticky rice, which gave the “sandwich” its soft and chewy center. It must have been flavored with some variant of chicken stock, because it reminded me of a more intense hainan chicken rice. I should also mentioned there were minimal bones to be found, save for the wing and thigh pieces, which made this a very accessible chicken dish for even the youngest diners! The thoughtfulness and craft clearly shown through in this rendition of the dish.Next comes my fair warning where I will wax poetic about veggies, because it’s time we give them their due especially in Chinese cuisine. Yes vegetables in this joint were given their proper respect, whether as the main show in the stir fried pea shoots dish or seafood fried noodle dish. The choy sum in the seafood fried noodles dish was particularly impressive, and each individual stalk was cooked to perfect crisp and freshness, from leave to stem. The kitchen staff clearly hand picked only the best from their suppliers and the chef made each sung to their highest notes. We also order the char siu (bbq pork belly), hot and sour soup, salt and pepper fried tofu and dried scallop fried rice. While they were perfectly adequate supplements to our meal, I did not find them to excite me as the stars of the show I mentioned above. That’s my only reservation for giving it the fifth star. On service, because Google wants me to, we came on a slow weeknight, and the staff was more than attentive. We came here for dinner with Dungeness crab in our crosshairs. The restaurant nailed the dish, and proceeded to expand our palate on Cantonese cuisine and how proper attention and craftsmanship could elevate simple ingredients and preparations like the choy sum, to the same level of enjoyment as their more glamorous counterparts like the crab and stuffed chicken dishes.

Great dim sum. Like all dim sum you may not love every single dish, but there was nothing bad, and the majority were S or A-tier dishes. Shrimp toast, BBQ pork with rice, and Custard Bun were my favorites.

We visited on May 29 at noon. This is my second visit and first for my friend from out town. She was so excited about visiting this Michelin star restaurant. Unfortunately we were so disappointed. The BBQ pork was burnt, the fried flat noodles was worst than fast food stand. Quality of the Yau Choi was the low grade ones. Dim sun was okay. I guess it was a Monday blue and the chef was not on his right side of mind?

Unique twists on dim sum items, like their crispy chicken sticky rice dish, which is usually wrapped in lotus leaf. The atmosphere has a very HK-style restaurant vibe to it. A bit expensive for casual dim sum, but worth it for friends and family meetups. :)
