We deal with Facet as a charity and for a society that I sit on the board of. We have complex finances and they have provided consistently outstanding levels of service and advice to us that have helped us make smart decisions. Darren and Tara and the whole team are amazing to work with.

Great experience. I worked with Sharon, she was incredibly professional, detail-oriented and communicated well, answered my questions and really took the time to work with me.

I was very disappointed with my experience with Facet Advisors. They gave me bad advice on US to Canada 401k transaction, which lead to me owing a significant amount of money in back taxes. In speaking with other tax professionals I found out that this could have been avoided. I would not recommend their services to anyone in Canada.

For a number of years, Facet Advisors provided accounting services for our company, Handy-Andy Maintenance Limited. On February 4th of 2020, we were contacted by Tara Walker, an executive assistant at Facet. She suggested that Darren Millard and Tara McNamara {Facet's CEO and Senior Manager, Assurance} would like to meet with us. We assumed that they had business in our area and agreed to sit down with them. The session lasted for an hour, after which Darren and Tara requested a tour of two of our facilities, which we happily provided. Shortly thereafter, we received a bill from Facet {dated March 12th} indicating that we owed $6,052.73 for the meeting. We were taken aback by this, as we had never been charged in this manner for previous check-ins and we would have been delighted to connect via Zoom. When we asked for a breakdown of the $6,052.73, Facet COO Jamie Birch gave us some general information but refused to explain exactly how he arrived at that figure. We concluded that Facet was padding its invoices and severed ties.Finding a new accountant was a straightforward matter but, unfortunately, settling accounts with Facet has been impossible. We have attempted, in good faith, to determine what is owed on each side of the ledger but Jamie Birch continues to stonewall us at every turn.One specific complaint we have relates to Facet Invoice 4616; in March of 2020, we paid $3,969.00 - in advance - for the preparation of Handy-Andy Maintenance's 2019 tax return. As a result of our transition to a more ethical and transparent organization, Facet never ended up filing this return for us. Indeed, they couldn't have: our in-house accountant never sent them any of the files they would have needed to work on this year-end. We would like Facet to return to us the $3,969.00 they charged us for a service they failed to provide.

I'm reposting this negative review because it's important that future customers know how Facet operates. Additionally, the repost is because they have worked to remove negative comments rather than deal with the problems they've caused my (and others) businesses.Transparency: 1/10Communciation: 1/10Professionalism: 1/10Results: 1/10Transparency:Facet will refuse to provide proof-of-work for their opaque invoicing practices. They do not provide any open and upfront costs for their services even if you ask for it. My husband and I used to own a fitness facility called Slammers Gym. Back when we were younger (we're both in our 80s now), we had an accountant embezzle several hundred thousand dollars from our organization and we thought, when we started working with Facet Advisors, that we'd found a group of people we could trust. Sadly, we were mistaken.In the spring of 2020, we began to suspect that we were being overbilled by Facet COO Jamie Birch. We took a closer look at our files and discovered that a number of invoices for large sums described the services rendered as simply various corporate matters". We asked for additional information and were told by Jamie Birch that accountants don't provide comprehensive breakdowns of amounts owing the way that lawyers do. We respectfully suggested that

My family owns a rental facility called The Italian Hall Events Centre, and we used Facet Advisors for a number of years. I am the General Manager of our venue, and I met Facet CEO Darren Millard on several occasions. Darren was always nice to my face, and so it was a shock when it became clear to me that Facet COO Jamie Birch was taking advantage of my family by billing us inappropriately. I felt disappointed and betrayed.When we discovered the irregularities and misrepresentations in Facet's invoicing, we switched to another accounting firm. This was on April 1st of 2020. Facet should have, at this time, paid back to us the $3,307.50 they charged - in advance - for preparing our 2017 and 2018 tax returns. Despite not completing this work {which was ultimately done by our new accountants}, Jamie Birch and Darren Millard have refused to furnish us with the refund we are due.To sum up: Facet charged us $3,307.50 for a service they never provided. Our review reflects this.
