DC Heritage Poultry

They are very kind and were able to answer all my questions. I got 5 healthy chicks which are now hens.I ordered 2 55 Flowery chicks, 1 Cream legbar chick, 1 Ameraucana wheaten chick and 1 White silkie chick.

In regards to those buying chick's or adult chickens, I only purchase eggs and incubate my own, so I cannot defend buyer or breeder with those problems. That said, their egg quality, shipping practices, and hatching success rate is top notch. 60 to 80% for black australorps and gold/silver laced Brahmas, and I live half a country away, long shipping.I strongly recommend.

We bought 5 chicks two years ago. One had to be euthanized within days as she had respiratory distress from a severe respiratory infection. Another chicken had bloody diarrhea for weeks, but thankfully recovered. The vet also said they were dangerously underweight. Over the past two years we’ve lost two more to Marek’s disease (very strange for supposedly vaccinated chickens) and thus forever contaminated our flock. Order with great caution.

I highly recommend DC Heritage Poultry I purchased 6 BEAUTIFUL Legbar females, 3 Opal and 3 Cream Legbars recently, all are incredibly healthy and active. DC Heritage Poultry also has an amazing selection which I LOVE as an avid collector of heritage chicken breeds. I’ve been homesteading and raising chickens for 20 years and have owned almost every breed through the years. I live in Quebec about an hour away from their farm so I picked my chicks up personally and got to see the farm. They are the most wonderful, kind and accommodating people I’ve encountered in a long time, something that is a rare commodity these days. I had the pleasure of chatting with Danielle’s mom, I think we could have talked all day, she is the “salt of the earth” and cares deeply about the health and care of her chicks. I will definitely be purchasing from Danielle again in the near future.

Terrible experience. We were knowingly sold sick chickens which eventually infected my whole flock. Save yourself the heartache find somewhere else.

It’s the third year I order from DC. Frist, I order some baby chicks, Danielle answered all my questions on breeds and was very helpful to hatch them to fit my schedule. They were delivered by Canada post, all healthy and perfect. They are still here healthy and productive, never ever had a problem. Second and third time I order fertile eggs. I always want something specific and fast, and Danielle is always there to help me and ship everything ASAP… They have so much breeds it’s hard to choose from! Thank you to be there.

In 2 years since we purchased 16 chicks from this place, we have 4 left. They all died of either heart issues, mycoplasma or other disease. We lost 5 chicks outright. We have 8 other chickens purchased from another place at the same time and those same 8 chickens are very much alive. Genetics seems to be an issue with this place.

I ordered 45 fertile eggs and received 47. When candled 9 days later 44 out of 45 are fertile the other two are in another incubator with my own eggs that I'll be checking in three days time. The eggs we received from DC Heritage were large :) ........I'm happy and will order again soon!

Excellent customer service and responsiveness. Plus they VERY securely shipped my eggs I was pleasantly surprised at how well they were packaged, all arrived in perfect condition. Plus they sent me a few extra bonus eggs, now that’s excellent service!

Purchased our first birds this past weekend. All were healthy and well looked after! Danielle was super helpful with all my questions. Looking forward to buying more.
