Curry's Artists' Materials - Markham

I drove all the way from Pickering to Curry's in Markham, primarily because their website is closed to online shopping. The store had a VERY limited supply of the Windsor Newton watercolor paint I was looking for. Most of the rack was empty. I could only get one of the colors I wanted and only in a 5 ml tube. I decided to buy a 10 pack of Arches 140 lb cold press paper which came to $89.90 plus tax. When I opened the package at home I found it contained only 4 sheets!!I endured another very long drive back to the store where they exchanged my package for a new one. They decided to eat up more of my time by ringing my purchase in again because the original was rung in under the wrong code. It was for their purposes, not mine.Even though I told them how far I had to travel they only said sorry about that" and "we'll see you again soon". I feel the least they could do was offer me some small token for my trouble since I had spent over $200 in materials plus a lot of time and fuel to go there twice.Art supply stores are hard to find. If you go here make sure they a)have what you want before you go and b) check the package contents before you leave the store."

Great customer service. A staff member stayed on the phone with me and checked the availability of each item on my list. Then I picked up curb side. Hassle free. Thank you for your patience and thank you for offering great service even in these crazy times.

My company ordered thousands of dollars worth of supplies for the school year and March Break Camp, which head office repeatedly promised could be returned -- we were reassured over 5 times just to hold onto it" because no returns were allowed until September due to COVID-19

The staff here is nice, unfortunately the last few visits over the last year and a half have been underwhelming. Constantly understocked, lacking the most basic supplies, staff uncertain of when stock will be replenished. I never leave the store with everything I went looking for. This was never a problem at their previous location by Pacific Mall. The Curry's chain loses extra points with me for discontinuing their sale of ready-made frames as of December 2019. I've been forced to shop out of province. A real shame as Curry's was a reliable go-to for a long time until recently. But of all their GTA locations, this one in Markham is least stocked up. Not worth the drive out.

We went there to surprise our daughter with a new art set and material. The staff was very helpful and kind. Not only did they give us suggestions on what brand and quality would fit our daughter's needs, they also let us know which ones offer the best value. Their pricing was very competitive even though they are brand new and at an expensive location. We will come back again when we need more art supplies and will recommend it to others for sure. Remember to bring your student card for 10% discount as well. Happy shopping and may the Lord Jesus Christ bless you all!

Made sure to call in the morning to check for stock. Best staff I've met. Even though it was less than 10 minutes left to closing, the staff were super helpful in finding all the materials I needed and even had a lot of recommendations on what they had to offer. Couldn't have asked for more! Definitely coming back for more supplies. ♥️

A changed company. Upper management needs to reconfigure their values back to what got them to be a Canadian Leader in art supplies. After being asked to hold onto our products we wished to return, we were finally allowed to return it. Over six months later. Once in store, the manager said they are only able to return products purchased this calendar year and that their policy had recently changed, making my returns not acceptable. I ordered in the 2019 calendar year because they were always out of stock and unable to meet shipping timelines when given less than 6 weeks. I still tried to support them because I liked the people and the company was Canadian. Changing policies during a pandemic to the detriment of your clients after not accepting returns for months and months is not ethical. I don't know how long it will take me to use up all these art supplies, but when I do, I'll not be stepping foot or mouse onto a Curry's store or website again.Unethical return policy invoked during a pandemic negating what employees and head office staff recommended we do. This is not right.Previous, unedited review:Markham Curry's has some of the best staff I've ever encountered. They're knowledgeable, friendly, and go out of their way to help you. I don't recommend any other arts supply store because of their competitive prices, but the customer service is bar none.Please support a Canadian company, started in Toronto, and get your brushes wet.Thanks Curry's for the great art supplies and even better service.

Great selection of art supplies with many options for discount canvas and other supplies. Staff is very quiet and stays at the front desk unless you ask for help.

After just learning about it and checking it out, I can safely say any self-respecting artist would be insane not to check it out. I am SO impressed.I came in with a long list of supplies that I needed, and the staff didn't just tell me where to go. They took me around the store and pointed out specific items that best matched what I was looking for, instead of the usual point and Oh yeah

The shelves have always been bare, even prior to covid. This is a really nice location. I find it's bright and spacious and all the supplies are easy to find.However, I am giving this a one star for two reasons:1. I did not feel comfortable shopping there. I can be indecisive when it comes to picking supplies if they are really expensive so I tend to think about it a lot. Honestly, it can take me a long time to pick some things because I can be indecisive about it. I had a Sales Associate who kept walking by me every minute and it didn't make be comfortable to shop there anymore. I felt like I was suspected of stealing. I spent well over $50 during my visit there and it maybe one of the last times I'll go back.2. I found the prices here to be really high in comparison to other places like deSerres...so I'll be giving them my business instead.
