SHIELD K9 - Dog Training Guelph

We brought our 1 1/2 year old European Doberman with fear aggression to Shield K9.We had been to 2 other training facilities. One of which recommended we euthanize our boy!Thankfully we were not giving up and found Stephen at Shield K9.Steven was so welcoming at our first session. Within the first 10 minutes he had figured out the issue, and we began working on a plan.From the moment we began each session till it was over ,Stephen was attentive to us all.We didn't only work on our issue,we learned so much about obedience in general .We left with a wealth of knowledge!This place is like no other,they are on another level.Stephen was patient and stuck with us every step of the way. Even when we called him from home for guidance. Its worth every penny and the drive outta town.We truely feel that Stephen and Shield saved our family.Improved the relationship with our boy,and taught us so much.Dont hesitate just make the call,you wont regret it!

I sent my dog to shields 4-week behaviour modification board and train and it has completely changed our life together. She had severe resource guarding issues and is an overall difficult dog and i was way out of my depth with her, but Kelvin and the Shield K9 team completely reshaped her mindset and taught me the skills i needed to manage her and continue her success. Now she is significantly calmer, she understands what i am asking of her, and she follows through. We are able to walk around her triggers and she can still maintain focus on me, I am so proud of her and all the work the Shield k9 team did to get her where she is today.

Kelvin & the team at Shield K9 were great! My 9 month old golden retriever, Sunny, came out of the Board & Train program with a calm & mature temperament, without losing her puppy charm. She knows every command we say. A large stress in our life has been relieved. We will do our best to keep up with her training & bring her back in a year or so to show you all how she’s doing. I could not be more pleased with the results & the customer service provided by everyone we interacted with through the process.

Shield k9 is the best of the best. I have a dog reactive German shepherd who was honestly out of control when I first adopted him. I tried so many trainers and nothing worked, until I sent xeno to a four week board and train at shield last year. He is soooo much better now, and Hef and Sal were fantastic. They went out of their way to help me after the board and train. the best advice I have for other dog owners who feel exasperated is to consider balanced training and tools like the ecollar. The ecollar saved us! Also, don’t expect perfection: my dog will never have the personality of a golden retriever, but I can safely and happily walk him through Central Park and that’s all I can ask for!

Great training facility tucked away in the back of the property. We completed the puppy essential’s course this past week, and I can’t say enough good things about it. Ivy and Matt, were very informative and patient. They took the time to listen to each individual’s concerns and addressed them with the owner before moving on. They worked with Rooster to help him get into the car, even after class was dismissed. Highly recommend for stubborn bullheaded breeds, they do wonders.

The best of the best! It took us 3 dog trainers with little to no results before we found Shield K9.If you want to improve your dog's behaviour, help your dog to overcome anxiety/insecurity or you just want to have a well trained dog, this is the place to go to. Hands down!

It will be injustice if I don’t mention about their training and methods. I have a 2 year old male rottweiler and it was very difficult to take him out on a walk. He always used to jump and growl/bark on the people and other dogs passing by. He was too anxious. We had a trainer before k9 but with no success at all. I took a decision to try with k9 after seeing good reviews on google but wasn’t sure if they will be able to rectify his behaviour. I have seen a big big difference in his behaviour, he doesn’t jump or growl any more. I love taking him out on a walk with people around and he is such a good boy now. It’s been more than a month since his training and he is still calm and not anxious anymore. Kelvin was the trainer and he did an amazing job. I strongly recommend shield K9 for aggressive dog or with any behavioural issues. Thank you once again.

Our Malinois recently attended a 5 week board and train at Shield K9. We've been super impressed with the results and the great experience we had working with his trainer, Kelvin. Our dog's functional obedience has improved immensely. He is much more diligent holding place commands under distraction and his impulse control is much better. We're working hard as a family to further improve our handler skills and continue with advancing Rogue's training. The experience was well worth the distance we traveled to attend the training. Great facility and great trainers.Brought our Rooster to puppy school that just recently finished. Had an amazing experience, we highly recommend shield K9 to anyone.We previously tried other trainers and nothing compares to how personal everyone is. The trainers help individual concerns and needs, not just read a script.

Stephen was AMAZING. We struggled with our hunting dog’s energy levels which transferred into bad behaviours in our house and pulling on leash. After ONE training session he stopped pulling on the leash. We now have a calm dog who is always complimented on how well he is trained. He is completely off leash trained, can perform heel with just a tap on my leg and is 100 percent a better dog. I cannot wait for level 2 & 3 training. I would recommend this facility to anyone & everyone.
