Excellent fusion Japanese food in Edmonton! Great drinks, sushi, appys and dessert. Came on a week night and it was packed so reservation is recommended. I really liked the premium nigiri plate which consist of 3 pieces of blue fin tuna (akami, chutoro and otoro) and 3 pieces of aburi nigiri, other than that, wagyu beef was also very good and melts in your mouth after cooking table side, save room for dessert! $$$$ slightly on the pricy side about 100 dollars per person spent including drinks and dessert.

Speechless! I’ve tried to come here twice last summer but both times I forgot a reservation was recommended and therefore the wait times were too night (I understand the demand though! Because it’s the best in the city!) and so I finalllly got to dine here last weekend with my friend, who has been here a few times and loves it too. Anyways, we ordered a lot: the edamame (perfect amount of savoury flavours, honestly I wish I knew how to make this so I could eat like a pound of this a day as a healthy snack lol), which paired nicely with the sweet notes from the variety tempura (honestly the best and most fresh I’ve ever tasted!). Then for the makimono, we got the TNT (highly recommend), Truffle Fry (unique and totally awesome - also highly recommend), volcano, golden crunch and Love Crunch (the salmon is SOOO good, definitely the most fresh tasting salmon you can get in the prairies!).We were so full, it was sooo delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough. The best sushi in Edmonton and from my experience, all of Alberta.So fresh, great service, friendly waiters/waitresses and the drinks were delicious too! Prices are very reasonable considering the highest quality. Love the ambiance as well - the music is a great background noise and relaxing.

I love their sushi. Their design for each roll and the taste were awesome. We ordered Dynamite, Cheesy dragon, Mango fry, TNT, and California roll and all of them were so delicious. But, I expect more friendly behaviour from the waitress!

I frequent this restaurant quite a bit and I am always amazed by the quality of food.Today we went for my sisters birthday and had an amazing time as usual! Today was particularly amazing due to our waiter, Aidan, who made us feel very welcomed and tended to! He made sure that everything was to our liking and made pleasant conversation that made the dinner feel welcoming.The food was delicious and has great value for its price. Even when the place is busy, we still got served quickly and had a great time. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Low key family dinner. Food was excellent and our server, Logan was attentive and helpful. Had a relaxed night out. Took off one star for the bakudan roll, too much tempura bits and overshadowed the spicy tuna. New style sashimi, tuna tataki are highly recommended.

Japonais Bistro is good but inconsistent. Sometimes they are exquisite and other times, they are subpar (mid at best). Size portions and freshness of their food is always different each time that I go. I have been going here for the past 6 years. They truly used to be my favourite sushi restaurant but with how inconsistent they are, I find myself going other places instead. Albeit, I still go as this place holds great sentimental value to me. The truffle fry is superb though!

Got the spinach gomae which tasted like sweet black sesame dessert dumplings except that instead of dough it’s with hot water rinsed spinach which tasted amazing. Chicken karaage on its own is amazing, the mayo and chili oil sauce is just okay I wish it came with something sour like a ginger yuzu sauce as standard but the karaage itself more than makes up for it. Dynamite roll is good for what it is. Pressed salmon sushi is amazing. Chill atmosphere. Will visit again.

Best Japanese food I have tried in Edmonton! We started with the hot stone Waygu, the $1 salmon sashimi, the Volcano roll, and the Mango Fry roll, all of which were simply incredible. After that, we decided to get another plate of the salmon sashimi and the Godzilla roll which filled us up. Including the sake flight, the total was around $115 for two. Definitely will be coming back here rather than spending $150+ on Earl's average tasting food.

Really nice place! Food was delicious and we had a great time there.We order cold Sake and it was amazing too. Staff was really nice too. We’ll be back soon.
