The Runners Core

This store has what every running shoe store should have but it seems that the other stores missed the memo - a treadmill! That other store" tells to you run around the store... That simply does not work IMO. Steve is excellent to deal with. Pricing is also pretty good. Core seems to be the go to store for trail shoes which is what I was looking for. However

I just got some shoes here and Steve took the time to help me find shoes to fit my style and form. We went through multiple pairs and compared each one until he was sure I was happy. There was no pressure and he was more concerned about the right shoe instead of the more expensive one.I will definitely be coming back.

We’ve been buying shoes from Steve for a long time and have always appreciated his knowledge and friendliness. Glad to support him and glad to have an independent running focused store to visit. The fact that there’s a treadmill to try out shoes is a huge bonus and so important when comparing products. There are shoes on sale for good prices - I got a pair of saucony trail shoes for $115. That’s good. I also got to try on a half dozen others and had a lot of fun. I need to replace my everyday shoes soon so I’ll be back. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to find good shoes regardless if they’re just for jogging, or sprinting, or marathon racing, or trail running. Oh, and Steve’s dog is friendly too.

Steve is extremely knowledgable, friendly, humorous, and polite. He listened to my issues and gave his honest opinion. He gave me a free video recorded gait analysis on a treadmill. He showed me plenty of shoe options, fitted me, and gave me tips to assist with my plantar fasciitis. I can’t recommend this place enough and will be back! Thank you.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing and fun experience getting shoes here! Awesome customer service with lots of humour. We will most definitely be returning for all our shoe needs! Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. They will take the time to get into you into the right shoe for your situation even if it isn't running and is finding the right shoe to walk in after a severe broken ankle. They actually helped make our quality of life better simply by taking that time and listening.

This is THE best athletics store I've used. I got a gait analysis done here and was set-up with awesome shoes to train and race in, as well as some equipment for triathlon. Since then I have podiumed at 2 events and PB'd at every other.Steve even sent me a simple training plan which led to an awesome half-marathon debut. I have since recommended this store to anyone and everyone.

Steve and Eddie are consummate professionals, and the store has a fantastic selection. This is the only place to go in Durham if you need shoes for running, a totally artisan experience compared to the big box stores that sell shoes.Steve asked a few questions about my running goals, did a gait analysis on the treadmill and immediately had great recommendations for which shoes to buy. He had me try each one on the treadmill to experience the difference and understand what each shoe was offering.I wound up purchasing a pair of New Balance FuelCell Rebel v3s and couldn't be more happy with them.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After having several bad experiences buying shoes from other chain stores that didn’t fit properly, I visited The Runners Core and all of that changed. Owner Steve took the time to properly analyze my gait to ensure I got the shoes that were a perfect fit for me. Turns out I was buying the wrong shoes all along!
