Ray was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Very experienced and offered great advise for building a good fire. Also had to call him a few times after the cleaning for advise and he was always helpful and never annoyed by the calls. Was very polite and even took the time to offer some tips for fun things to do for my child around Christmas time. Will use him again and again.

GREAT service. Every other company told me they couldn't come out for another 4+ weeks, and High Hat came out the next day (The weather was rainy, I thought for sure he would cancel, but he called and showed up!). Smoke would billow into the house when we would start a fire in our wood stove, and the cap was completely plugged up with creosote buildup. Ray cleaned out our chimney, showed me what was wrong, and even showed me how we can maintain it ourselves so it doesn't happen again. He knows a lot about wood stoves, thoroughly inspected my stove and showed me a few tricks I can do to keep things cleaner. VERY knowledgeable, and right to the point. He charged me less than what some others were quoting over the phone. To the reviewer who complained how she was treated, I think High Hat treats it's customers well by keeping prices fair/low, and giving their customers knowledge. As customers we need to know when we need to stop talking and start listening so an expert can explain what needs to be done. After meeting Ray, I realized that there was nothing I could tell him on the phone that he didn't already know. Short and to-the-point isn't bad treatment; it's respectful of my time.

Reasonable priced and knowledgeable. The tech came out on time and was happy to teach me about fireplace ownership and upkeep. Did not try to upsell me and gave me recommendations for where to buy replacement parts on a budget. We will be regulars! Thank you again and can't wait to burn some logs in our clean as new fireplace!!

I thought long and hard about whether or not to review. Everyone who hears this story tells me to review. I was having a problem with soot and I have gas logs. The very friendly wife of the owner confirmed I could get soot from gas logs and scheduled an appointment for cleaning. The owner of the company, who is in his 70s, (maybe it’s time to retire) came out and took one look. He said he would not touch them and referred me to his son’s company to have the logs cleaned. He did not touch my fireplace which I had wanted him to clean. He did not offer to return to clean the fireplace once I had the gas logs serviced. He called his son and inferred that my gas logs were cheap (at a price tag of $1500 - they are not cheap). He charged me $130 in cash and insulted my general cleaning of my house claiming he thought he saw a cobweb ( which was soot on a corner of the ceiling - a problem I was trying to remedy by having him clean the fireplace and then getting the room painted). As he prepared to walk away with my money in his pocket he told me I could clean my own fireplace brick with Dow Bathroom cleaner and a wet/dry vacuum. How unprofessional! I cannot recommend this company.

Ray was extremely helpful and professional. Did a very thorough job in inspecting and cleaning our fireplace. Gave us a lot of insightful tips on use of our unique fireplace system as it is almost 100 years old. Marie in the office was very personable and responsive. Highly recommend.

He was fantastic, really knowledgeable, keen to share, pleasant to deal with, left no mess - everything you would want from a chimney cleaner, plus cheaper than everyone else and with better availability. Recommend highly.

Raymond was incredibly knowledgeable and informative on proper fireplace usage. This is our first home with a wood burning fireplace and we appreciated all of the useful tips. He arrived promptly and finished in a timely manner. His years of experience are very apparent. We would highly recommend using high hat!

What a wonderful company! I called and they immediately got me in. I was worried because it's before the Christmas holiday and several people might have the same idea. He came right on time, was friendly, and professional.

Ray is a thief!! He came to do a cleaning and the cleaning was only supposed to be $165. He said he wouldn't do it because there is an insert and if he did do the cleaning it would be $265. Then he said i need a new lining and it would be $3000. Brian at London fog said thieves try to sell linings for $3000. And he only charges $1600. Then he charged me $140 for shinning a flash light up the chimney. He was here less than 2 minutes. I told him that was outrageous and he started swearing at me calling me all kinds of names. The most unprofessional person I ever dealt with. I gave him $100 for his trip and told him to get lost!! And of course he cust me out alot more...

Honestly the best company I've ever dealt with for anything! Firstly the initial conversation to set up an appointment was like talking with a family friend, Ray's wife Marie was so sweet. She took her time making sure she had every detail for our appointment. Even called multiple times to confirm, which I loved because previously we had two companies who never showed. When Ray arrived he got straight to the point and was so honest with me and my husband. It turned out we didn't need any of the work done that the previous companies told us we would need. He even shared tricks and tips with us for maintaining our fireplace. I highly recommend them for any of your chimney/ fireplace work. Very professional and just all around great guy.
