Acme Plating LTD.

Dropped off a silver plated tea service tray and 4 piece set. It was antique and well used, to the point of leaking. I inquired as to the restoration and usability of the set, and was informed that it could be restored and used again, with dents removed and replated. I waited over one month for the restoration, and upon picking up, was told that it would cost an extra $250.00 for extra time and work done. (this is on top of the $920.00 cost quoted and confirmed) I asked why I was not informed of the extra costs prior to work being done, and if the work done would guarantee the usability of the pieces. The answer was no, there was no guarantee that the extra work and $250.00 would make the pieces useable. Also, the welding, (which I was told to pay extra for) was very noticeable and rough, simply quite ugly. A good business practise would be to inform customers of situations and receive approval prior to proceeding with extra work. Not notifying a customer until pick up, when you want your items back, is not satisfactory. Unfortunately, upon looking around the shop, I noticed that many pieces that are for sale, were also in need of work, with the idea that you purchase them, and have them do the restorations. I would not recommend this shop for quality restoration work.

The crew at ACME is fabulous to work with, and the quality of their work speaks for itself. They are a great example of a local business that embodies the best of what a successful home grown family enterprise can be.

They did an amazing restoration of my Grandfathers silver goblet award he received in 1890 in a marksmanship contest in Manitoba. It really looked it's age

Exquisite work - fast, affordable, and professionally-handled.I handed over some industrial solid copper busbars that needed tin plating, and within 48 hours they were completed. The results were utterly perfect - with no flaws or other defects, and the staff were professional and displayed a deep interest and care that went beyond simply performing a job of work.I recommend Acme Plating and Silver Shop for fast quality work at a fraction of a certain other plating firm.

I have just received extremely disappointing service from this company.I requested that they plate a door knocker to match the hardware on the door. I brought in the door hardware along with the door knocker so they could understand what I was looking for. I was informed that they could not do an exact colour match which I accepted as I didn’t expect an exact match, just something as close as possible.With one of their employees to guide me, I selected a colour from a group of samples they provided and was happy with my choice. A piece of sticky notepaper was attached to my selection by the employee. The samples however have no unique identification associated with them ie no name or number.I remember thinking that seemed careless but was informed that this was how they did things.When I came to pick up my finished product I was shocked to see that it hadn’t been plated in the colour I had selected. The employee I dealt with could not provide any explanation or any help regarding correcting the error. She told me the owner would follow up with a telephone call.I received the telephone call the next day from the owner and was completely shocked by her anger with me and denial that an error had occurred. She informed me that it was my error and that nothing could be done to repair the door knocker. She was extremely rude, yelling at me on the telephone, demanding that I pay the balance owing ASAP as their business is moving to a new location.In conclusion I found this company to be very unprofessional and extremely disrespectful of myself, a customer.

This is the only place I would trust with the gold plating of my valuable rings. Jay and the Acme staff have consistently preformed miracles on these rare signed pieces to not only renew their original beauty but conserve the signature and date inscribed on each piece. The quality,quick turn around time and excellent communication speaks to their professionalism . This is my 3rd year using this service.Bravo.
