Be prepared to walk. Don't go if you have time restriction. Amazing history and spectacular to see. Walk is about 6km each way. Through forest and mostly along the Beach.

Did the hike to the shipwreck on a hot, clear and sunny day. Folks recommend departing for the shipwreck 2 hours after high tide to maximize your time availability to do the trek and hang out there. The first 2 kms through the forest are beautiful and peaceful, and I'd say easy-moderate. The remaining trail comes out onto a gravel road that runs next to a channel, and that section was brutally hot, lame, flat, and with several biting horseflies. You can spot the shipwreck when you're 1-2km away, along with some nesting eagles in the forest to your left, and the last half km turns into a nice sandy beach where you'll come upon the remains of the Pesuta. The beach is beautiful and sandy, the water was surprisingly warm (depending on the tide), and full of clear and large red jellyfish. The wreck and beach made the last part of the hike worth it. 10km round trip from the day-use parking loop, roughly 3 hours round trip.

Wreck is cool. The hike took us 3 hours, 1.5 there and 1.5 return. It's 5km each way. An hour walk through the forest (2.5km) and a 30 min walk beside the river (2.5km) leading to the wreck. The walk beside the river is really boring but the hike overall is very easy. Make sure you check the tide tables before going as the water covers the wreck and you won't be able to get close if it's high tide. Very muddy in spots and you have to cross small pools of water in 2 spots so bring hiking or rain boots.

Make sure you time this trip right with the sunset and importantly the tides as you could easily get trapped out there when the tide comes in. Having said that it's a great little day hike. For the first half of the hike you're in the forest and the second half along the beach with little cover. The shipwreck itself is quite the sight with the desolate surrounding beach and miles of oceanfront. Well worth a trek to if you're in the area.

Beautiful hike- Must see in Tlell! The first 2 kms are through the forest along the river then the rest is on the beach. Make sure to check the tides so you can see the ship up close. Soon I will be doing the full East Beach trail!

So overall me and the outdoor Ed crew had a skookum time at the ship wreck, walking on the beach wasn't very fun but eh whatcha gonna do, I almost got stuck in one of the steel pipes but that's fine I got out, overall if you dont mind walking 8/10. If you don't want to walk, just bring a Jeep on to the beach and drive there. So like 9/10 actually... Fortnight Bòrgêr!

Don't follow google map, you can't reach the shipwreck because it's across the river. Take the trail instead of walking along the beach

The walk to the wreck is very scenic. Even without the wreck, it would be a great hike. Pay attention to the tides. 10k round trip doesn't sound too bad, but you should be a regular walker to do this.

Nice piece of history on the beach. About 1.5hr walk from the trail head. The route is well marked and easy to follow. Visited in May 2021.

Cool shipwreck that you can enter, esp on low tide. The last hour of the hike can be a bit blah as you're just walking on the sand with no change in scenery. You get the feeling you're not going anywhere. Alternatively, if you like long walks on the beach, you're in for a treat. Other useful fact, there's cell phone reception for most of the hike. And agates
