Dark Horse Estate Winery Inc.

We came without a reservation and were delighted with the setup. A table became available but during the wait we were allowed to walk with our wine through the vineyard and down to a shaded tent area with picnic tables. The winery and vineyard are beautiful and great for taking pictures. They serve wood oven pizza, cooked right outside on the patio in a wood oven. It was delicious. The service was also good. I’d be happy to go again.

Building was incredible but sadly the quality of food did not match! We ordered a 5oz glass of wine thinking the cost was 9.50 and thinking it was a combination of Riesling but it turned out to be just Riesling and it was 16.50 a glass! The wine was however lovely. The lunch menu was too limited. A few bread and humus apps but extremely small portions! The humus lacked flavour and the pizza was burnt! When we sent the pizza back, they brought us another one but it was not baked long enough. They blamed it on the wood stove but honestly if they can’t get the pizza right then they need to take it off the menu. Some salads and nice sandwiches would have been good to have on the menu. Would not recommend this restaurant for lunch. Perhaps dinner might be nicer.

Visited on a Saturday for a dinner in the cellar. Building and grounds were absolutely beautiful, high-end, and well kept. Food was amazing and service was great. One thing to note was the espresso martini tasted a bit watered down. The icewine martini was incredible. Appetizers took almost an hour but sourdough bread & amuse bouche were brought out so the experience was a very enjoyable one! The server could have offered a wine paring for dinner, I would have been inclined!

Friend and I had dinner at Danu in May and it was probably the BEST meal I’ve ever eaten! Tartare with bone marrow, pork belly with rhubarb and mustard, duck breast tortellini, agnolotti with ricotta and peas, and an amazing burnt lemon dessert. The service was incredible, and Felicia really went the extra mile to make our experience amazing. Their pastry chef Jake even paid us a visit with a bright smile on his face to explain some of the dishes we had. I’m definitely no wine expert but the wines were delicious and the pairings were spot on.I also had the chance to check out their patio earlier in the day, where I enjoyed a wood-fired pizza and some wine cocktails. I chatted with their new head chef Kris Simmons, whose creativity and passion seemed to shine through every dish I tried.Congrats to Ashley and the team for creating a one-of-a-kind experience in Grand Bend - there’s nothing like it in Southwestern Ontario. Can’t wait to come back!

Great place to visit near grand bend!We got the wine tasting for two, and the sommelier we had was very knowledgeable. We learned a big deal about the winery and wines around Ontario. Also, you get to keep a set of wine glasses with the wine taste experience.We were late for the wood oven pizza on the patio (make sure to get there before 4 pm). They also have dine-in options in a beautiful restaurant in the basement.The patio is Pet Friendly, and you can walk your dog and take some wine around the exterior areas of the building.The building is beautiful, and the attention to detail and interior design is spectacular. They held private celebrations at their Cellar, where they have around 100yrs old cedar tables (stunning!), and also have other salons where they host weddings and business events.The staff is very friendly and the wine is top quality! We bought some wines to take home and some other items that have at the store.

We had an anniversary dinner at Danu Cellars and were very impressed with their service. Grace our server was there when needed with great service and lots of information about the winery. She even snapped a few pics for us to remember the night by. The decor is lovely, the farm land is beautiful and the horses in the next field just topped off the idyllic surroundings.But even more impressive was the food and wine. Their farm to table mission shows its value in every bite! Everything served was absolutely wonderful and rivalled 5 star restaurants we’ve eaten at in much larger centres across North America!We are not wine connoisseurs in any way but their recommendation was so perfect for us that we ended up bringing a couple of bottles home! Strongly, strongly recommend.

Went into the winery to buy a hostess gift. Store was not busy and no one seemed to be there to help. Bar tender saw me waiting at the bar but turned his back on me. Same with a couple of waitresses. Needless to say, I did not buy any wine .Beautiful bldg and grounds but can’t say anything else that would be positive.Shame

Great location. Amazing building. Great food. Higher prices to be expected for the location and quality but I do wish the portions were bigger. I don’t mind paying for a great meal. I just don’t want to be hungry when I leave. I had a salad and the duck entree. Both were very good but were quite small.

This is a great place to stop for a glass of frozen rosé. Yes, it’s a thing and is awesome on a hot, muggy day which is pretty much everyday in SW Ontario. My BIL and I were riding by and needed some refreshments, so we stopped to check out Dark Horse. The staff were amazing - thanks Bill for welcome two sweaty cyclist and hooking us up with your delicious rosé slushies! I’m sure the wine and food are awesome too, but a wedding and our late arrival got in the way of exploring Dark Horse’s full potential. Super happy you are busy, great work!

We, enjoyed some wine on the patio. Beautiful winery. They did not have flights on Fridays which was a little disappointing but the staff there were very helpful. We didn't try the food but the outdoor pizza oven looks good.
