Perhaps not as consistently good as it was when it first opened, this is still one of my regular dining spots. On the weekend, during busy times, you may need to flag down a server, but most nights your cup never empties, and the food comes fast. If there's any criticism to offer, it's that the food can be inconsistent depending on who your chef is. As a person with a shellfish allergy, I value the large variety on the menu; at many other sushi restaurants I'm forced to order the sashimi platter because of a lack of selection in rolls. Try the Mountain Maki - it's my personal favourite.

I go out to sushi about once a week and this was one of my worst experiencesEverything I ordered had an odd smell, from my water to my maki rolls, to even my chicken wings. The making rolls all tasted the same, and had some bad flavour in it. Maybe the food was just not fresh, I'm not sure. I would not return to this place or recommend it to anyone

One of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. Not a single thing we ordered tasted good. The miso soup was just water, the sushi rolls all tasted the same and had no flavour. The spicy salmon was a joke. The salmon belly had an awful smell. The wings also smelled funky. Even the water had a plasticy smell to it. We asked for hot sauce and never got it. The servers all seemed depressed and stressed out. Overall it was a very poor experience and I will not be returning ever. At $17 for lunch I felt totally ripped off. Not trying to bash the place but just my honest review.

We have something to celebrate and wanted to bring our friends over to Sushi Mountain - we're from Scarborough but didn't want to bump into anybody we know, so we thought this is a nice place - cozy and quiet with AYCE Japanese.Food is still great, and the pop/iced tea is refillable and included in the AYCE price. However, customer service sucks. There was this server who got irritated because of her own incompetency just because she can't get our ice scream orders right haha!I thought that was it but then, while we were enjoying our sweets she came over asking if we will have separate bills or not. I said there will be one bill and then she was gone in a jiffy with the receipt.I had to ask her - are we being rushed or something?! She then realized she went off the board so she got somewhat apologetic saying - Oh it's because you are now having dessert so I thought (ASSUMED!) you will be done.It was kind of embarrassing since we have good sushi places in Scarborough but we just wanted to do something different this time and this server sure knows how to dampen your good mood.I didn't want to ruin my day completely in the end by complaining to the manager before leaving. It might not be understood too well because of lost in translation so I am here to write this.Hello owner/management : do something to address your resto's customer service issues. It seems like I am not alone having read complaints of other customers here in google.

Delicious food. I won't eat sushi anywhere else. The only time I can actually eat sushi is from this place. The spicy cooked salmon rolls are my all time Favorite ! I strongly recommend trying that. Especially if your not into the raw fish ordeal .

I popped in a for a quick take out lunch. I ordered the all day special which is any 3 house rolls for 10$ I chose a california roll, spicey salmon avocado roll and the shrimp tempura roll. The food was prepared quickly and I did not wait more then 10 minutes. The food was presented nicely as well. So why the 2 star? The food is just very bland, the sushi lacks dimension, the flavours are very flat. If you want just a california rolls, I would say you would not be at a loss in going here. For other rolls i fear the flavour just isnt there. I have not done the all you can eat, so i cannot speak to that. However, based on what i received I would try other places first before doing the all you can eat. This place just didnt pass my take out test.

The food quality has gone downhill. Came home and have been very sick. Don't drink the water there either - it tasted weird. The crystal rolls used to be amazing but now they were horrid. I'm sure the salmon wasn't fresh today. Bad experience.

I'm from Markham, but happened to be in the area on an errand, so my wife and I decided to give it a try for dinner. I haven't tried any of the other sushi places in Ajax, so I have no basis of direct comparison, but compared to what we are used to in Markham, this place was a bust.The cooked food was mediocre at best, the sashimi didn't taste fresh, but the rolls and sushi were absolutely horrible. The rolls were enormous, filled with rice and tempura batter bits, but the worst part is that the rice wasn't seasoned properly (or at all for that matter) and tasted as though it had sat out for a while. Fresh maki and nigiri still has a softness to the rice which makes it palatable.Because the rolls and sushi were so bad, we couldn't finish them. The waitress said we could take it home or leave it, but either way they would charge us an additional $5. This is the first time in 15 years of eating AYCE Japanese that someone has actually enforced that extra food rule on me. We literally only had about 10 to 12 pieces of maki left, and anyone that frequents AYCE establishment knows that people waste a lot more than that on average.Unfortunately for the restaurant, they had no mandatory tip like many other places have, so the $5 overcharge simply got deducted from the tip that I had intended to leave. Sufficed to say, I won't be back.

Nice place for a sushi AYCE in the area, the restaurant is big, fair pricing, seems clean(dim lighting) and staffs were friendly. It does lack variety comparing to many other places and have a simpler menu. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing at all since their food fairly consistent in terms of quality and portion.
